think the lsu defense will be better. The 2 most prolific pass rushers in hs history are now juniors, most of the young secondary returns and adds 2 studs. The big question is mlb, but chavis always has an answer ever time we get concerned there

If you're banking on some arbitrary high school records to make up for lack of experience that's fine. You want to believe your defense to be better, so you'll find any way to justify it.

Mett to Quantavious gonna wreck shite this year. Mett shat all over the crimson flow defense without a true #1 WR. Lookout SEC.

You have no idea how young and inexperienced the LSU defense was last year. Especially in the back seven.

offensively, pretty well. Chavis' 2 minute defense shat the bed as it seemed to often do last year. Those 2 quick scores were the difference.

As long as they don't get caught up in themselves and take plays off like Montgomery and Mingo did.

The season was over, just won a NC - all the rules go out the window until Spring practice. Don't mess with the rules.

The main thing myself and many lsu fans, with knowledge, are banking on is what we have. We know more about our team than you, thus the confidence. Great dl, great dbs, and chavis knack for putting it together with lbers. Back to this topic, i think landry will be our top wr this year if the spring is any indication

Explain....

DL is completely unproven. That's a fact. The talent is definitely there though. Rasco, Ego, Freak. What about the the other DL spot? Jordan Allen VS Danielle Hunter. From what I understand Hunter didn't have a great spring. The depth is just so young. It's hard to come into the SEC and play right away for some guys.

The Secondary is shaky. Mills was great for a true freshman. Collins was decent. Other than those two it's all youth at CB, not all of them being supremely talented. Safety is a huge major major concern. Loston is good but injury prone. Ronald Martin/ Micah Eugene are both major concerns. It could be trouble.

Chavis is one of the best 3 DC's in college football. You guys won't be bad (obviously) but will slip from last year.

Very excited about mike Evans. He was our best receiver last year and the word is that he has shown tremendous growth. Not only that but he should be healthy this year. He is looking for another great year

I would take Mett-Jarvis Landry over Mett-Beckham.

The big guy that is missing from the list is Michael Bennett and Aaron Murray. Bennett was getting over 5 catches per game prior to his ACL injury.
If he kept that up, he would be UGA's single season receiving yards leader.

I'll start with LSU's secondary.

Do you have any idea how young LSU's '12 secondary was? One returning starter in Reid. Simon had a couple years experience, was the nickle back in '11. Loston had limited PT due to injuries. Cest tous. Nobody else had seen the field for any meaningful PT. LSU had FIVE freshmen (three true) in the two deep.

Heading into '13 tigers return two starters back there. Mills (Fr All American) at corner and Loston at safety. He finally put a WHOLE season together, started EVERY game. Listed as one of top 5 safties in the country.

Other starting CB will be (Freshman all SEC) Collins. He was the nickleback and had one start. Played MAJOR snaps in EVERY game. The #3 CB going into '13 is a redshirt Fr that actually played in three of first four games.

The second safety is Martin (Jr). He was the #3 safety last year and he played in EVERY game last season.

The backup safties are both sophs that played last year. Eugene was the dime back and he played in EVERY game in '12.

The '13 starters should be a Sr and Jr at saftey and two Sophs at CB.

Backups at saftey are two sophs and backups at CB are two RFr. Tigers go from one returning starter and five freshmen (three true) in two deep to two returning starters and two RFr in two deep.

As for the D-line. I wouldn't call them completely unproven. Freak, Ego and Rasco have all proved their worth these last two seasons. All three have seen extensive snaps these last two seasons. Opponent, time on clock, score and situation didn't matter. When it was their time to get in they played. That's a solid core to start with right there.

Hunter and Allen will fight it out for the other starting DE spot. It really doesn't matter who wins though because both will see significant PT. They both actually had very productive springs.

Freak, Rasco and Hunter all did something as Tr Fr that Brockers, Logan, Mngo and Montgomery couldn't/didn't do. Those three that will be a MAJOR part of the '13 D-line saw defensive snaps as Tr FR. LSU had a much deeper D-line rotation when Freak, Rasco and Hunter were Tr Fr.

LaCoture was in for spring and was very impressive. He will be in the mix at DT. With the haul LSU had at DL this past Feb there will be a few of thoe guys capable of seeing the field come august. Young yes BUT, oh so talented.

I am aware. Regarding Collins I like his potential. I look forward to watching him. Last season I liked him better in the nickel than when he rotated in outside.

and didn't play well.

Again and didn't play well.

Still a concern. Wouldn't be surprised if either of them get passed up by freshman.

I guess my point is none have started consistently. Sure they played and rotated in some.

No question. Absolutely no doubt about it. The D.line is stacked.

The thing with Collins as the nickle back. When he came into the game he took the outside and Mills rotated to the inside on a slot receiver. Collins never really played inside.

Most tiger fans would disagree about the amount of production by Eugene and Martin when they were on the field. They both accounted well for themselves.

If Dwayne Thomas is passed up by a true freshman for the #3 CB spot that dude will be a STUD.

Last year Freak and Ego played as much as the starting DTs. Especially Freak. Look for those two to be the best DT tandem in the conference. Rasco was the #4 DE last year. He was much more productive as a true freshman in '11.

Almost all of LSU's defensive experience was on the DL last year. This season coming it's mostly in the back seven.
