No rah rah SEC chant from me.

But I am trying to convince myself to pull for Auburn against FSU. It is so unnatural I am just having a hard time actually doing it.

I have always had the tendency to pull for SEC teams in most OOC games...just not from an SEC pride point usually.

I have never pulled for Auburn before. But I am trying to this year: Why?

1. I think Winston is a told fraud. (not withstanding his recent legal issues) Through some contact with high school coaches etc. I had always heard he was a prima donna, not a team player in high school etc. The image he projects on camera is far removed from his actual character. (I will compare him to my opinion of Cam...because I am a Bama fan. )

2. This run by Auburn is epic and amazing in my opinion. Luck, destiny, team work, great coaching, upsets, the under dog...just an unreal story.

3. I don't view them winning the BCS as a threat to Bama.

4. I remember watching Michigan - OSU, or ND when both schools were top 5. I always thought it would be immense fun to have a rivalry like that. The Bama - Auburn rivalry seemed to fluctuate between one team being highly ranked and the other not. Now that both teams are being successful simultaneously it should become more entertaining.

5. And I would like for the BCS to end with 8 straight SEC champions and 5 straight from the state.

Good luck Auburn... now I must go

Easy for us to say. We don't have to be in a conference with Ohio State.

living in the heart of B1G country - I hear that the SEC is overrated nonstop. Even complete dominance over all the other conferences doesn't seem to drive it home for a lot of these people. For this reason, their superiority complex with regard to prestige, and the other conferences generally being full of awful doucebags - I want the SEC to continue to dominate, more out of hatred of the other conferences than out of "love" for the SEC.

I always pull for SEC schools in bowl games but I'm the first to ridicule them when they lay an egg.

I remember well the arrogance of the Sparty fans on their and our boards when rumor was that Saban was coming to LSU. They laughed and asked why would Saban make a lateral move at best, and said we'd run him out of town like we do all our coaches. And then there was the usual academic and class arrogance thrown in with a Deliverance joke as well.

And look what's happened to them. It took them 10 years to get them back to where Saban left them.

BINGO!!! We have a winner!
Apparently some of the Bammer fans that think the SEC chant is stupid don't understand this basic logic.

"Exactly how I feel. The "Go SEC!" attitude is for our bottom feeders who need the SEC's success to justify their terribleness"

says a Bama fan who benefitted from the SEC prestige by getting into the Championship game when they did not win their conference.

for that attitude..10 lashes.

You and every AU fan answer me honestly

If Georgia had made it last year would ya have rooted for them?

Probably not. As a UGA grad, I've grown to not hate UGA as much as I once did, but I don't want UGA to have too much success. Probably would be one of those things where I'd root against you, but if it became obvious you were going to win, I'd hope for you to just blow ND out.

That said, I kind of thought we were over 2010 and the Cam stuff with UGA people, which obviously isn't true. So, if UGA makes it next year, for example, I'll be wholeheartedly hoping that you lose. UGA is just bizarre when it comes to AU bitterness right now.

Well, that shows you're thinking with the shite between your heels instead of the shite between your ears.

Do you think for one second that Bama would have gotten a shot at winning a NC without having won the conference championship had SEC schools (even the bottom feeders) not, in recent years, done well against OOC opponents -- especially bowl games???

Let all the "bottom feeders" start losing more OOC games and getting beaten in bowl games and watch what happens to Bama's strength of schedule.

Ex: If Bama ('03 bottom feeder) doesn't lose to Oklahoma, Northern Illinois, and Hawaii (bowl game) in 2003, then Auburn's perceived SOS in '04 might possibly have landed their undefeated team in the NCG.

See how that works, smartass?

You can change ^that^ around to any school in the SEC and it works.

See: "The only reason I ever cheer for any of you frickers is because it makes the conference stronger when you win and it makes Ole Miss look better when we beat you."

These are the only reasons I pull for you dipshits ... because what's good for y'all, is good for me. I just have to pull and hope for my team to be better than the rest of you frickheads, as I am sure you will do the same.

No we root for team first but if we lose we'd rather have a team that beat us and is in our family beat the snot out of the rest of the US than watch the various BIGs put on a show of crappy football.

How many SEC school fans would really want to see the NC streak end just because their team is not playing? Hard to imagine, but there will always be a few.

I'm rooting for AUB, because frick FSU. I don't care about the streak. I rooted for ALA, because I hate ND.

You're right Prof. But I wonder if it didn't have something to do with the fact that pretty-much everyone hates OSUe?

Nearsighted at best. Some of you guys have been here too long and take stuff for granted. A&M is winning recruiting battles it had little shot at in the recent past. Why? Almost all the new guys say something like "I get to play in the SEC". Why is playing in the SEC a big deal? The NC's, obviously.

I'm sure OSU hate motivates a good portion of it.

doesn't the conference get money for a team being represented in the NCG? Does the school who won receive money and isn't a portion split amongst the SEC? Someone mentioned this which is why we should root for Auburn. Is this true? anyone who ACTUALLY knows.
