Push back the SEC champ game one week and let LSU and Fl make up the game at the stadium in Atlanta same time as the SEC champ game is scheduled.

No reason to move the SEC Championship game for two teams that won't be playing in it.

$15 million economic impact on Baton Rouge. Not going to happen. Specifically with sling blade governor trying to cancel football in the first place.

I think both the SEC and LSU are waiting to see if this even happens.

You may like to make assumptions like that but there is no reason not to make such a concession. There are still games being played the weekend after championship weekend.

South and Presbyterian should.play I Tiger Stadium.

L5u fans have said they just want to watch football games. This way they could come to town support the local community watch some football.

Hell they could also bing in and show the UF game on big screens in the stadium

So you want to compensate Baton Rouge for losing a home game by having a FCS team, from South Carolina, with a 6,500 seat stadium play an Alabama team with a 33,000+ seat stadium in Tiger Stadium?

This isn't perfect as a response but it's close enough:

LSU fans could stop bitching and just accept fate -- the SEC made the decision.

Deal with it, pussies.

This makeup plan obviously hurts LSU a hell of a lot more than it does UF so LSU fans will bitch about it for eternity.

If played in Baton Rouge we won't bitch one bit, but the Gators will.

Ain't no one scared of LSU.

Just take your medicine and stop bitching. Foley played your AD like a drum, the SEC made the decision.

Life sucks, but it's okay. You guys weren't going to do anything in the SEC anyway.

Florida fans calling LSU fans pussies? I'm completely dumbfounded.

Hey IAmMoron, It is way more complicated than you state

quote:

The SEC is going to pay South Alabama and Presbyterian the buyouts (2 million is pocket change to the conference). They may be able to negotiate a lesser buyout by allowing South Alabama and Presbyterian to play each other and host the game on the SEC Network.

The value from the LA Governors office today put the value of this home game at $6-7 million to the university. LSU is one of three NCAA football programs in the US that takes no money from the university funds and gives money back to the university, currently $7-10 million. This is included in the school budget and this issue could cause LSU Football to lose $6mil plus and hence now is getting into LA taxpayers pockets.

All because the AD and Coach of UF decided to use the impending doom excuse for cancelling the game outright and improving their postseason chances artificially.

Also add to this conundrum that the economic studies on LSU Football effects on the local economy put a home game value at $15 mil per home game. So just saying we will throw the guarantee money at USA does not ease the sting any.

LSU will agree because if they don't agree it's almost impossible for them to win the West.

If LSU refuses and they finish 6-1 behind 7-1 Alabama, they'll be left out in the cold and look pretty stupid or refusing the make up plan.

Is a game against South Alabama worth throwing away an SEC Championship opportunity?
This year, honestly, it is. LSU will not go to the playoffs this season, even if they win out and win the SEC (2 losses kills them). I think they'd be playing for Sugar Bowl only, which is what might occur anyway if they finished 9-2 (Bama at 13-1 still makes the playoffs IMO).

So, the question would be: reschedule, lose a home game for the right to hang a plaque, or stand firm and force the SEC office to do some housecleaning (get a new, stronger commish)?
After last week's clown show, I vote the latter.

The actual truth of the matter is your AD and coach ARE scared of LSU.

Why do you think they put off the decision until there wasn't any time left to do anything? Your administration tucked its quivering tail between its legs and hid from this game because they knew they were likely to lose. Every other school in Florida played their games. Congrats on having a chickenshit AD!

I think this will happen on Nov 19th in Gainesville, to compensate LSU for the loss of a home game against USA, Florida should have to split the revenue from the Nov 19th game 50/50 with LSU and the SEC needs to pay for the cancellation of both OCC games. They made the decision to cancel last Saturday when Foley was saying to wait and see. They should make both sides right.
