Bama was down for a while too, with some bad coaching hires. But at the end of the day there are just certain programs that have the history, money, resources, and recruiting pockets available.

I won't like it as much as any aggie, est assured. But they'll be back at some point. Same with the Vols.

Not going to disagree with you but that wasn't what you said either. You said they wouldn't be down for long.

All it takes is one bad hire. If that coach fails on the field and in recruiting, then the odds of the next coach succeeding drop as well. That's why it can take 10 years to get a program turned around if you massively whiff on a HC hire.

I like Strong as a coach, but growing up in Austin and following Texas for most of my life, he was a terrible hire for them. That fanbase is going to turn on him like lightning.

How many coaches do you think they went through from Darrel Royal to Mack Brown?

LOL. Fred Akers, who succeeded Coach Royal, had as many top-5 finishes (three in 10 years) as your school has had in its entire history! And he got fired, eventually, because he wouldn't keep up with the Switzers and Sherrills of the world ($$$ payola).

It's Darrell, not Darrel, btw. Silly aggie, you'd figure a coach who was 17-3 against you, that you'd know how to spell his name.

Since A&M has joined the SEC, we have the same number of wins as LSU, more bowl wins, more Heismans, more head to head recruiting wins for 5 star athletes out of Edna Karr, more wins over Ole Miss, more wins over Alabama, more wins over ACC teams in the Peach Bowl, more 11 win seasons, and more top 5 finishes. I think those are all more relevant, true. Good point. Maybe I should start bringing that up more.

Wow, great moral victory list there.

Since A&M has joined the SEC they have never defeated LSU and A&M has never finished above LSU in the SEC West. Historically, LSU owns Texas A&M.

LSU 2-0 vs Texas A&M

2011= LSU finished 2nd in the West
2011= A&M finished 3rd in the West

2012= LSU finished 3rd in the West
2012= A&M finished 4th in the West

I didn't believe it so I looked it up.

From 84-94 A&M was 9-1 against Texas.
From 94-04 A&M was 2-8 against Texas.
From 04-12 A&M was 3-5 against Texas.

They're actually 5-10 in their last 15 games. Not good, but quite as bad since it was Texas' best decade since the 70s. But if you look at the past 30 years, it's relatively even. I would also argue that they would have beaten Texas soundly the last two seasons.

Wow, I noticed you stopped at the 84 mark.

From 1940-1983 Texas was 36-7 vs A&M.

No wonder Texas A&M ran away with tail between their legs to the SEC.

I don't blame yall.

Texas A&M hasn't had a "home field advantage" versus decent SEC teams the past 2 seasons, and their road dominance was broken last season as well.

South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU are all tossup games. Missouri may be a threat later in the season also. Mississippi State didn't match up with the Texas A&M offense well enough to compete for 4 quarters the past 2 seasons, so I'm of a neutral opinion on that game.

LSU and Alabama aren't in declines, and they will finish Top 3 in the West again.

I was wrong about South Carolina and Mississippi State and doubt LSU will finish Top 3 in the West, but I was correct about the Texas A&M decline. At this point, Auburn seems like a guaranteed loss, and Texas A&M seems worse than LSU now. Missouri has a decent defense, but a bad offense. The game is tough to call at this point. 2-6 in SEC play is looking like a stronger possibility.
