All fluff no stuff HC - #Swagg.

Texas HS football not putting out a lot of great defensive players. Most of the team is TX kids.

IMO.

The thing about Texas talent is they get such good coaching for so long that about half of them have peaked by the time they are 19.

Which fricks up the rankings because all those peaked guys are five stars and the guy who has a higher ceiling at say 22 is a three star.

The biggest problem with all Texas programs these days is that Texas HS players are soft. Texas HS football these days looks exactly like the Big 12 - all skill positions, 7-on-7 focus with QBs and receivers. There is no focus on defense, or on winning the LOS.

That is why when Texas college teams go up against SEC, or even B10 teams, they get pushed around so easily, including our inept Aggies.

Until Sumlin can effectively recruit the big nasties from the South, we will continue to lack the depth needed to compete for the SEC West.

One problem - we think we're going to win it all, then we lose to Alabama, then we quit. I blame the leadership for quitting.

After losing 4 of 5 in a row in the late 80's / early 90's to LSU, I do remember when the Aggies became good enough by committing significant NCAA rules violations to win a few games in a row vs some of the worst LSU teams in history (that everyone beat). But soon the NCAA hammered A&M football for cheating and LSU stopped playing that cheating football program until eventually being forced to do so by bowl game contracts and conference realignment.

Since the Aggies have stopped cheating so badly to receive NCAA probation, their football program has been mostly crap, they've lost 6 straight to LSU and have lost more than twice the # of games they won vs. the one school they hate losing to the most.

While one might wish they could remember when Aggies consistently beat anyone, were respected as a football power or won anything important without the benefit of major NCAA violations, we sadly can't because that's never happened. And even with cheating, A&M football never amounted to anything worth bragging about.

In 1950, we were a small all male military school that had to play at LSU every year if we wanted to play LSU. Things have changed. (Just for trivia: women were first allowed to enroll at A&M in 1963.)

I remember when LSU backed out of their contract with the Ags because y'all couldn't handle any more beat downs. Whoop!

It must suck to have to be a 40 year old to be able to say you've seen Aggy beat LSU in your adult life.

No Power 5 teams from Texas are among the Top 50 defenses in the sport.

The whole state is soft as a pillow.

Don't forget, that's the same year blacks were allowed to attend aggy. That's even later than Ole Miss and Alabama, and about a decade after the University of Texas.

Which school just fired their first black head coach after 3 years?

The Spread offense has turned 99% of the players coming out of Texas into soft pussy's, the other 1% gets divided among about 6 or 8 different schools. Games are still won by big fat mean o and d lineman and hard hitting bad arse linebackers, something Texas doesn't produce many of, If A&M never signs another LB out of Tx they'll be way ahead of where they've been recently.

I have a theory that Sumlin wears the team out as the season progresses. He's old school.

No way, we don't want to have to deal with the media backlash if the next (white) guy is given a longer rope to succeed (for reasons other than race).
