Quality talent including Great QBs in Texas

They have a Great fan base, weird but historical traditions.

They are from Texas influence in Sec.

Recent Heisman winner

A lot of people with money willing to invest in the University.

They should be easily a Top 15 nationally each year.

We basically started at zero in 2012. Our brand was shite, our roster was shite outside of some once-in-a-lifetime three star players and and a NFL-ready Oline.

We overachieved in 2012, which was nice but not sustainable. Our recruiting ticked up but so did the talent of the teams we play against.

If you look at the talent rankings we are third in the SEC West (very close to fourth) and in reality we are fourth in the SEC West (very close to third). So we have underachieved but just a little.

LINK

The problem is in order to be the kind of program OP assumes we can be we will have to overachieve eventually more than a single year (aka 2012) to keep the ball rolling. I would argue it wasn't LSU's first BCS title that made them what they are today, but the second BCS title. In order to get ahead you have to overachieve with consistency, and Nick Saban is a direct roadblock to that.

Our best chance at this point is if the playoffs goes to 8 teams soon. Not because it makes it easier for us to get in (though it would) but because that would stabilize the Big 12 and make sure our SEC selling point is unique in our region for at least a few decades.

I remember when LSU backed out of their contract with the Ags because y'all couldn't handle any more beat downs. Whoop!

They are Aggies. It is their destiny to be a barely average program and it always will be.

As a Sooner I would want to cling to such superstitious nonsense such as that too. The truth is if we get a good coach and start kicking arse Oklahoma would suffer more than any other program. We saw that on a small scale when after 2012 we out-recruited OU every year until this year.

When I was in school, the Big 12 was a 4-team league: Texas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Kansas State.

Those were the only 4 teams to make the title game when I was in school, and all but Kansas State won.

I remember when we put up 622 yards of offense against your "elite" DC

It was this past weekend

But keep telling us more about how A&M used to beat LSU when we were in elementary school. I'm sure it feels great

Lol you didn't hurt OU recruiting they were still top 15 classes and in fact had no issues winning on the field see 2013 and 2015. OU is going to have two at the hiesman ceremony this year and continues to build a top 3 class for 2017 and already off to a top 5 start in 2018. You had your Super Bowl against OU in 2012 against a team that didn't even care to get off the bus for that bowl game. 80 years of history says your program is a pimple on the arse of Oklahoma football. There's nothing to indicate that will ever change aggies have been saying it for years.

There's some truth to that on the defensive side of the ball, and I think we're certainly seeing that with A&M's defense. But what really did us in was Sumlin's complete failure to recruit O-line talent. He lived off Mike Sherman's O-line recruiting for four years, which covered up his deficiencies in this area. As the Cowboys have shown in the NFL, a great offensive line makes everyone look better--even your defense, by limiting their exposure and putting the opposition in predictable passing situations.

CFP last year and Being top 10 in December is a pretty good position Aggie would know nothing about. Too bad you left the big 12 you would probably have been in the NC in 2012.

The thing about Texas talent is they get such good coaching for so long that about half of them have peaked by the time they are 19.
