Great read.

But, after this, and Eddie's article, I was getting a little suspicious of these guys' writing abilities. Then I noticed the "contributor" part. It's still a great article and sentiment, I'm just no longer wondering how our football players are writing better articles than most of the media.

There are some elite people working in the Writing Lab at UA. My child has taken full advantage of their services.

When you grow up a little, you'll learn you can dislike your rival without hating every player.

I just call it like I see it on something like that. Yes, it can be tough at times. I have the little small voice saying, "add a troll here", or "Great time to flame here".

Great read. I'm really excited to see where he lands in the NFL. I feel like he has the talent and work ethic to really be something special.

Sure, maybe, but if you couldn't see his explanation of how he grew from a boy to a man during his four years as being proof of his growth as a person then too bad for you.

That is a type of person you want talking to kids for any reason. He talked about many valuable principles that would make anyone successful should they apply it.

My troll switch isn't always in the "ON" position. Sometimes it's okay to recognize something you see as good in your rivals and opposition.

Great read! Proud to call him a fellow alumnus of UA. Great representative on and off the field at UA.

"The night that I felt most loved, and most supported, by the supposed “win first, everything else second” Alabama football community was after a loss."

Not what most other fans would have believed. He was concerned about his teammates and the fans. True fans were concerned about the players. One game does not define the players and it does not define Alabama.

What I got from that (other than a great read by a player who had a lot to say) was the answer to a question I -- and, I suspect, many people here -- have always had. How does someone with Saban's personality manage to play the recruiting game? Nobody could ever call him placating or obsequious, which seems to be a major component of recruiting nowadays. I wish more coaches handle it the way Saban does -- polite but straightforward, without any of the usual jumping through hoops. Recruiting news would be a lot less annoying. Well, it would still be pretty annoying because I have to get excited over a high 3 star coming in to give us much-needed talent, but still....

Edit: Though turning down a black momma's food is usually a mistake. I've never regretted accepting a dinner invitation from a black momma.

Though the stories are well-written, their collaborators are abusing italics and ellipses. That's something, right?

Cmon dude, no one is insinuating that personal growth doesn't happen just as well at other programs. I have no doubt in my mind that players could have written similar things about Les Miles, Malzahn, Dabo, etc. Allen is truly an exceptional guy and youd have to be a very bitter person not to see that Saban does care about his players.
