A&M has more conference titles than any SEC school except Bama

And Kevin Sumlin has fewer conference titles than any coach in the SEC, with zero (0).

Its because A&M finished 5 in the Nation. If you only counted Conference then Bama only finished 3rd in SEC in 2011.

A top 5 finish is good believe it or not.

Yes we all know, we have heard it since the game... Alabama decided before the game, in a pact with LSU, that they would lose the game vs A&M on purpose (knowing that one lose would still get them to the Natty), included in this part of the agreement was the fact that every LSU fan would have to bring up they fact that Bama ONLY lost because they were tired from LSU. In return LSU would drop the game to Bama on purpose as well, but actually "show up to play" against A&M. Thus solidifying 2nd in the west for LSU, Bama in the Natty and A&M finishing third. So because of this agreement: 1. A&M beating Bama was obviously going to happen. I mean you cant break the first part of the agreement. You signed it! A&M didnt play well at all right? No... absolutely not... This is their first year in the SEC... they cant just walk into the SEC and play THE ALABAMA FRICKING CRIMSON TIDE and win.. thats proposterous.. How dare they hang with Florida with 4 quarters or hang with LSU all game... this was obviously ALL A CONSPIRACY! 2. LSU gets to continue to boast their own ego knowing that THEY ARE THE ONLY REASON A&M beat Bama... Had it not been for the physical play Bama would have been playing their 3rd string in the second half against A&M. 3. A&M is still a bad football program. All SEC teams should mark that W in permanent marker on the schedule they have hanging in their moms basement. Be careful not to get the cheetoh residue from your fingers on it though. Wouldnt want to ruin such a thing a beauty as a premarked schedule full of "W"s.

Meh.

I think most would say mediocre.

One win doesn't change that. Neither does finishing 5th in the SEC. Which puts you at the top of the middle of the conference.

Look at the season as a whole. Clearly the team had improvements throughout the season which provides promise towards 2013. And still, you had the SEC losses in the division.

Fact: 3rd in the west and 5th in the SEC, no BCS bowl
Does anything else really matter?

I don't argue that La Tech should not have been a tough game for A&M but the fact was it was a 5 hour game that finished at 1AM on the road and was an emotional roller coaster that came after a similar roller coaster road win with Ole Miss.

Only bottom tier SEC teams play road games at LaTech, Troy, UCF, Frenso St., etc.

Actually, I did. I specifically quoted and responded to your comment about Tiger Stadium not being "as awesome as LSU fans say it is" by noting that LSU has lost 1 game at home since 2009. The point is, LSU losing at home, for the first time in three years, in an extremely close game to the #1 team in the nation, does not make the home-field advantage of Tiger Stadium any less impressive.

Had I wanted to address LSU's impact on the Bama-A&M game, I would have done so.

I think its because they outplayed expectations.

When people expect you to be an 8 win team and you end up beating the best team in the land, have a player win the heisman, and score all kinds of points then people say, "Holy shite they're grrrrrrreat"

Only time will tell.

Cam Newton and Tim Tebow led their teams to more impressive seasons. Granted, it wasn't their first year starting. Also, what were the casts like for the 3 teams? Who had the best offensive supporting cast? In their best seasons, who had the best defense?

A&M's 2012 schedule was a little tough, but they avoided South Carolina, whose eventually supposed to be their new rival, and Georgia — the SEC East Division Champ. They went 2-2 versus the 4 greatest teams on their schedule. 1-2 versus top ranked SEC teams.

quote:

I do agree with this. Said all last year, the linebackers especially. They were big and strong, well disciplined, but not as fast as the previous years. That's a big reason that they had trouble with QB's like JF. Their sideline to sideline speed wasn't as great as the previous years. Biggest reason Mett had his best game all year. LSU exploited the flats.

I'm not sure Saban has enough seasons at Alabama to establish a pattern, but his defenses have been elite in the odd years. This year's defense is expected to be better than last year's, but will be better than last season's in time for the A&M game?

The Heisman pool was smaller and weaker than usual. Winning against Alabama won Johnny the Heisman and vaulted A&M up the rankings.
A&M finished 5th in the conference at best. South Carolina and A&M lost the same two teams, but South Carolina's losses were on the road.
A&M fans might think their team was the best in the SEC at the end of the year, but there's no way to prove it. I'm not convinced that Texas A&M would have been a sure win over Alabama, LSU, or Georgia. Florida and South Carolina might have been able to give you a game too.
Your 2011 argument is stupid. Alabama may have finished 3rd in the standings, but they were undoubtedly the best team in the conference.

series was 1-1 and we beat you in your house you beat us on a neutral field.

you won the bcs title game and that's good for you but over the course of the season LSU was SEC Champs and #1 in the country for a reason.
