Man... I understand buying a nice watch, I probably would too, but what's with the tacky shite that these guys are buying? There's no room for diamonds on a man's watch.

See? This is what a gentleman spends on a watch. A buffoon spends over $100k on a fricking wrist watch.

Greg Robinson makes more money.

Johnny's career in the NFL is going to be twice as long as Robinson's, so better adjust for that. Johnny the Gentleman comes out on top either way.

Jewelry is such a colossal waste of money. It's overvalued and one of the worst things to spend money on.

That honestly bugs me a lot more than the money they're spending on them.

Look at it this way.... if everything goes to hell, he has tangible insurance in the form a wicked expensive watch.

I'm with you. I'd rather have a swanky Texas edition Chevy

Except those Rolex watches won't lose much of their value, and could potentially increase in value over time - whereas buying a new car is an immediate toilet flush of about half of what you spent on it.

I'll put some of this in perspective...

Btw, robinsons contract will be almost tripple ha ha's.

Rookie contracts vary from $7M to $24M maximums depending on where they were taken (first round only). Ha ha's max is $7-8M and Robinson's is about $22M.

Government is gonna take a HUGE bite out of that signing bonus which is over half of the contract.

So, take an average first round 4 year max contract of $15M. Government snacks on first 40% and says thank you very much. Say the agent and all other bites combined are 10%. Now you have $7.5M left and you play out the full 4 years but don't get the big free agent contract afterwards.

$7.5M ain't no joke. But spread out over 50 years if it isn't invested, it ain't all that either.

I could blow maybe 400-700 on a watch to wear, but that would be about it. The only watch I could see paying more than 1k for, would be one of these:

I love a nice Elgin RR watch. I once worked for a pawn shop in my younger days and had a chance to buy a 14K, 21 jeweled one for 500. I can kick myself now for not doing so. This was early 90's.

Any watches I've looked at that have been over 30-40k have all been terribly gaudy and tasteless. At some point it goes from being fashionable to just throwing the most bling on a strap you can regardless of how it looks.
