Geeze, get your panties out of a wad. I was just saying everybody should let it go. He is no longer at Arkansas so quit the hating.

And for what it is worth, I do not own a John Deere t shirt.

The myth is that Nutt ever had expectations. IMO, he never has. This says a lot about his ability to build a program. Arkansas under Nutt was a spoiler. That will be the pinnacle of his career at Ole Miss.

Skullhawk that is what Arkansas as a program is in the SEC. Arkansas is a sparsly populated state that only produces about 5 to 8 SEC caliber players per year. On average, 2 of those are what you'd call Blue chippers and usually less than 2 guys from the state of Ark go to the NFL per year.

The Alabamas, Auburns, LSUs, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee have by far and away better potential to recruit NFL caliber talent and history shows that. Ole Miss, South Carolina have slightly more potential. So, Arkansas is not a place that should ever have high expectations but of course there were times it did b/c they had a great coach. It takes a great coach to create high expectations. Sao sort of poked fun about all those years not being in the top 25 but Arkansas does not have a top 25 recruiting base most years. Think of all the talent in the big10? big12? west coast? east coast? Florida? Ohio State? I think Arkansas is a top 35 but not top 25.

I also think it is unrealistic after a year like 2006 for Arkansas to go on the road and beat all those bigtime programs for a second year in a row after losing 4 guys to the NFL ,2 of which were high defensive picks. The only loss that should not have happend was Kentucky at home but he made up for that by beating LSU on the road. The expectations were there b/c of the backfield but it takes more to win in the SEC than that.

BTW, are you going to the OM/AR game? Last I remember is that you were not.

it's also illogical to believe that change is impossible. We've seen what has been but what will be is the true question.

SEC teams Houston Nutt played more than once while at Arkansas...

Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Vandy
Florida
Georgia
S. Carolina
Miss St
Tenn
...yes, all of them.

SEC teams he had a winning record against...

Ole Miss 7-3
Miss St 9-1
S. Carolina 7-3

With a total record against these three of 23-7. Take that off his 42-39 record and that puts him at 19-32 in the SEC. Along with the fact that he was 2-3 all-time vs Kentucky and 1-1 all-time vs Vandy.

Houston Nutt had a 2-6 bowl record with 137-250 scoring differential.

So don't give me this crap. You can twist it any way you want to. He was here for 10 yrs and was an avg coach at best.

Call the Arky fan base delusional if you want but I don't think any of us would hire a coach if we knew ahead of time that our teams upcoming decade would consist of these types of numbers.

I apologize ahead of time for the drunken rant.

Nate Hawg one thing you are not realizing is that Ole Miss, SC, and MSU have just as much potential to win, if not slighly more than Arkansas b/c they have better recruiting bases. SC has that as well as bigger budget. The losing record against the rest of the league is too be expected. It's Arkansas. If you think Arkansas can play with the top 6 programs in the league consistantly you are delusional. Who cares about his lower tier bowl record? they are exhibition games. Maybe he was counting on senior leadership that didn't show up yet was concentrating on the NFL draft.
