Firing Delmonico was a ridiculous move. UT baseball hasn't sniffed the NCAA tournament since.

If only Fulmer had focused on his own program rather than trying to find dirt on Alabama and running to the NCAA with everything he found.

Vols have always been obsessed with Bama, and it has cost them long run.

Dickey's biggest problem was he hated basketball.

Didn't Delmonico get fired for shady shite? I would rather lose in all sports other than football and men's basketball then commit any violations. My only standard for Vols baseball is don't do anything which would get our football or men's basketball team investigated.

Tennessee women's basketball was going to fall once summit left

Men's basketball was never elite but had a nice run until pearl was let go

Football I.think the biggest thing to over look is drive in a coach. Most coaches have one dream, to win a natty, and when they do it, there is nothing left. You've lived the headline of your gravestone so to speak. Do non tennessee fans really give a shite that fulmer won one not two titles. shite I cant tell you how many spurrier won, I think two. I know he won one thats all that matters.

Look at the last 15 coaches that won a natty

This, Fat Phil was not satisfied that he turned Bama in for paying the same coaches that he paid to sway Albert Means. When it looked like Bama might take a hit, but not a big enough hit in his opinion, he called up the NCAA investigation, and said he would provide more information against Bama, but only if he could do it anonymously, enter the "Secret Witness", which didn't take long to identify Fat Phil being the crying bitch of Vol nation.

This was the biggest bitch move in college football history, and Tennessee deserve every bit of what they are going through now and much more.

And yes I agree Bama should had got in trouble for what they did, but fat Phil did the exact same thing, with the exact same player, and the cried about it.

Know your history Tennessee fans, and for you young Tennessee fans know that your program is the biggest bitch program in all of college football.

If you ever read the book "Meat Market", which heavily featured Ed O at Ole Miss, there's a famous quote in there. It's along the lines of "Never win a bidding war. Winning bidding wars is how you get into trouble."

All of this is secondary to :

Your weasel coach selling out Alabama to get the NCAA to stop from crushing his program. The NCAA made sure your admin and coaches knew that they would have eyes on your athletic department from then on. The elite recruits from the west coast and the Midwest no longer had the promise of passing without attending class and having to attend class and $$$$ to sign a LOI. At once, the reasons why elite athletes would come to hillbilly USA from 1000-2000 miles a way on the regular were nullified by the NCAA. It would have happened even had he not ratted out Bama. Y'all would have been hammered for grade gate.

Roy Kramer had direct ties to Vanderbilt not Tennessee. He created the SECCG, presided over expansion (the one that brought Arkansas and SC in), and created the BCS (that thing that wound up proving the SEC's dominance in football). The Kramer conspiracy which up until now I've only heard from Bammer fans but add Florida fans in I guess is one of the dumber ones ever passed around.

The man is singlehandedly responsible for this conference being the best in the country and fabulously wealthy. Fools around here give Slive credit for what Kramer actually did. We'd all be lucky to see another commish like Kramer in our lifetimes.

Good points, but here are some more facts for the Fulmer and Kramer haters.

(1) Alabama fans didn't seem to care that their boosters Logan Young et al were buying players (especially in Memphis), but they cared enough to hate Fulmer when he helped end the practice.

(2) The schools that turned the Albert Means case in to the NCAA were Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky and Michigan State - which was coached by none other than Alabama's current coach who had been recruiting Means.

(3) Pot, meet kettle. Maybe Roy Kramer liked Tennessee, maybe he didn't. But SEC officials never exhibited the disgracefully obvious on-field bias that they have for Alabama and Florida, beginning with the day Slime assumed the office, and continuing to this day, along with official reviews. Where is the league office again? Oh, yeah.

Billy Ratliff pushed Brandon Burlsworth backward and he stepped on Stoener's foot. Billy Ratliff caused that fumble and recovered it too.

Exactly...it isn't like Spurrier or any other SEC coach also spoke to the NCAA about the recruitment of Alebert Means....oh wait...nevermind...continue with your rant.

It can be traced back to the retirement of Doug Dickey in 2002 and the hiring of Mike Hamilton. Hamilton was the assistant AD, who was promoted but his background concentrated mainly in fundraising. Instead of going out and getting a good AD, they picked needle dick Hamilton. So, here are the four main things that led to the downfall of our athletic dept, under Hamilton's watch.

1) Firing Rod Delmonico who the year before took the Vols to the College World Series.
2) Not firing Phillip Fulmer in 2005, when it was apparent he was a lard arse that couldn't recruit or coach anymore.
3) Not putting in a substantial buy out in Lane Kiffins contract in 2008 which made it easy for USC to take him.
4) Hiring Derek Dooley who is the most incompetent and idiotic coach that ever lived (4-19 record in the SEC).
