The End: LSU - Florida

There are a lot of stupid theories and really ridiculous arguments going around. The answers are simple if you work in the business sector or in a corporate environment. I'm going to spell it out for you.
Money, it's the bottom line and Jeremy Foley played his hand absolutely perfectly, brilliant even.
The only outcomes that were ever an option for Foley were Saturday in Gainesville, reschedule, or no game. Anything else, was not financially viable. The first option is obvious, the second would transfer a financial loss from Florida to LSU, the third means the other options fell through and is no further detriment to Florida(possibly an advantage).
Once the SEC allowed the decision to be delayed Wednesday, Foley controlled the situation.
Notable Points:
1. Florida is not scared to play. I am sure they would love to.
2. The SEC is not plotting against LSU. It is just incompetent and looks very weak right now.
3. Jeremy Foley outmaneuvered the SEC and out PRd the LSU administration.
4. The game was never going to happen anywhere but Saturday in Gainesville, anything else is a significant financial loss for Florida.
5. "Player safety" was always a powerful fallback in Foley's pocket. There's absolutely no way anyone can challenge him.
So there you have it, if you disagree, go take a nap or maybe play with your legos. I really hope LSU takes the financial loss and we get this thing figured out for a reschedule. I think moving the A&M game to the weekend is paramount to that decision.

Two points:
This is certainly not what was portrayed this week....they made every attempt to not play despite numerous viable and easily implemented backup plans from LSU.
Would this have applied had the game been in BR? I mean why not move it to BR?

It's always about money. If we reschedule, it has to be in Gainesville. Why would UF give up a huge payday? People have to eat. But, another point is the liability, which is very real. Let's say they move it to Atlanta, BR, etc., during a coastal evacuation order. Some idiot drives in a ditch and dies wearing a Gator tshirt. His family sues the school and the state that he was rushing to get to LA to see the Gator game. Somebody has a heart attack laying on their couch. They are going to attribute it to the stress from the storm (even though he was eating 5 lbs of cheetohs every day) and he just so happen to be wearing a Gator or LSU shirt so the schools are responsible.
Then there's the insensitivity angle. No one knows the severity of a hurricane. You end up having a lot of people killed or displaced, where folks are trying to find shelters, especially moving towards Gainesville and you're playing a game??? Why do you think LSU postponed N.Texas during Katrina? You could have still played the game but it would have looked real bad with evacuees laying across the campus.

The big point you fail to mention in your so well thought out analysis is that every other school presented with this situation has bit the bullet and moved the game.

You are mostly correct, except:
1) Florida's move effectively removed LSU from the conference title hunt while placing themselves in a more advantageous position.
2) If the game is rescheduled for Nov. 19th, LSU faces a brutal away schedule, along with $5 million revenue loss, along with a home game loss for the second year in a row.
3) If the game is reschedule for October 29, LSU loses their bye week before Alabama.
I can absolutely assure you that if you replaced "LSU" with "Alabama" then the SEC office would never have allowed Florida to manipulate the situation so greatly in their favor. Never.
If you think otherwise I'd suggest breaking out the legos - maybe even milk and cookies.

UCF also decided to not play this week. They postponed their game and got Tulane to agree to play later. Tulane fans aren't melting that they now must play UCF right before they have to play Houston. They understand how you have to shift priorities during a fukking hurricane, unlike whiny arse LSU fans. The game can be easily moved but LSU are the one's wussing out on the date.

This is obvious, however, sometimes things happen and you need to take responsibility.
Do you think USC wanted to move their game to Baton Rouge last year? Do you think LSU wanted to move the ASU game to Tempe after Katrina?
The Florida Athletic Department definitely won this battle over an inept LSU administration but it doesn't change the fact that it's a chicken shite move.

Last I checked Jeremy Foley's obligation is to the University of Florida. In the world of business he just made an A+ move. LSU, UT, and other oddballs are literally the only ones who think this, perspective.

The reality here is simple, it is none of Foley's concern. He won.
The SEC will need to address this in the off-season with some guidance. They well enough know how weak they look right now, but are currently able to save face.

Then why did Foley go all week with his arms crossed saying Saturday at noon or nothing --until he let the clock run out yesterday? The man REFUSED to consider other options.
