As soon as this thread was posted, I thought about Coker and the school of law.

The Coliseum is an eyesore, and it has prime real estate. I wish they'd tear it down and build something great in its stead. But I understand the emotional attachment (I can honestly say I've spent the night in that building, and had a beer on the roof).

What's wrong with the comp chem building? It really looks great from the other side and there are much uglier parts of campus near by. I used to walk by a giant mound of coal and there's that loading zone like place on east campus road.

I always thought it was an awesome facade to the city coming in from Cayce via Knox Abbott. Of course, you can't see it now with the new apartment buildings up.

With that said, the School of Journalism in its bowels does look terrible.

Some of those are actually decent-looking mid-century modernist buildings. They just need to be appreciated and maintained.

Not all brutalist and mid century modernist buildings are terrible.

Mary Burke hall. While 90% of all freshman lived in those fancy new dorms, I had to live here.

The only redeeming quality (and probably the only reason it won't be torn down) was the fact that there was a cafeteria on the first floor. It was also one of the better mess halls, only the athletic dining hall was better.

There are over 900 buildings on the UF campus, so we have our fair share of ugly buildings. The midcentury buildings are rather bland and will probably get renovated soon, but we have several of them due to rapid expansion of student enrollment in the 50's. While those aren't great, the one building I'd like to see demolished is Turlington Hall. It sits right next to the historic part of campus and is completely out of place.

Troy H. Middleton (namesake of Club Mid) was an alumunus of Mississippi State

We named our ROTC building after him, and it's a pretty cool building

As far as ugly buildings at State go...fricking Dorman. What an eyesore. Right across the street from the junction too.

There was only 1 picture of Dorman online, and the url exceeded the maximum character limit.

I'm too lazy to find the pics but when I was going to school (the first time around) at the U of A our honors dorms looked like something Soviet dissenters were sent to out in the middle of Siberia. Amazingly the inside was even worse then the outside.

It it awesome or embarrassing that we have a sculpture of a giant penis and a slave graveyard?

As far as ugly goes:

Paty Hall
