I can't speak on behalf of the last two years, but I never had a problem. They always had the signs that said law students only but that just made studying there so much sweeter

The smell is a combination of really old books and sweaty foreigners on a bus.
If you sit on the benches outside the library you will smell it every time the door opens. Its weird how once you walk in for 10-15 seconds you forget about the smell.

Don't think there's anything they can do to replace them, either, given how many students each holds and their proximity to one another, disallowing a quick demolition/rebuild.
