Our actual strength of schedule over the last few years has been fairly well documented. It's not a huge task to field a top 20 defense when you don't play many top 25 (or even top 40 FPI) teams. With the east being down overall, and largely in the offensive category, inflated defensive statistics followed. I don't yet know whether Smart will be the right hire here (personally felt like Herman was the A+ pick) but I think he has a lot of upside.

you gumps are fricking retarded. just because smart has been claiming Saban's success as his own does not make him a good HC and it doesn't make the east suddenly equal to the west.

Never said it was equal to the West.

But Kirby has been under Saban for YEARS. Like, a long arse time. If you don't think he learned and improved every single year, then you're not very bright.

tell me about all this HC experience he got while being there? I'm waiting.

also until this year the bama defense had not been very bama like for about 3 years. he wasn't getting better and better.

The east is going to be stronger real soon. Things become full circle sooner or later. Teams go through it all the time. Texas was dominant at one time...Oklahoma was dogshit after being dominant years ago and now they are climbing to the top of the ladder, USC dominanted the west for years and then took nose dive....Bama was on top not long ago...then went through several coaching hires before Sabin...they suffered a real black eye when stripper was with the head coach before he ever coached a game, then you had the ex Ga Tech guy and bricks thru windows etc etc Sabin led you to the light.
UF and UT were the two beasts of the SEC for a number of years....UT went through purgatory and may have their coach, UF had short dive and now appear to be heading in right direction.

The east has recruited well and will start taking their share of games vs west teams.

I am honestly not sold on jmac yet, and smart is a gamble. We will see. I hope they both do well and keep Tennessee/AU/LSU down.

Smart is going to struggle at UGA. He has benefited from coaching the #1 recruits in the country. We all know that player make coaches look better. I can't wait to see what he can do with less talent.

I'm not sold on butter teeth either. him winning SEC COTY would be a farce. if his QB isn't a roided out cheating tPOS his florida team looked very similar to muschamp's florida team.

This girl with huge tits had no legs. Met her at summer camp. Her tits were so big. I respected her for those tits. I played with them. She was hot. I took a picture of her from the waist up to show my frans.

So, in other words, she was a car babe? Looked good sitting in a car with the window down cruising around, but you just didn't want her to get out of the car?

Oh wait, she had no legs! Dude, you did not have to go there. That brings back memories for me. But she could really move her hips.

Those numbers bear a little explanation. 14 of the 38 to Bama was a pick six and blocked punt. Also, two of the scoring drives started on the UGA side of the field. The O definitely did not help in that game.

Against UF, UF had two TD scoring drives of 2 and 5 yards.

Against UT, they played poorly.

I think things look to get worse. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm one of the few who has reservations about Georgia hiring a coordinator with no head coaching experience. I think there is a good chance Kirby is successful, but I was hoping we'd go after Herman at Houston first.

As for Florida, they look abysmal on offense. The only reason they won 10 games this season is because they were in the East. Many of their studs on defense will be gone after this season.

Tennessee is showing improvement, but can Butch Jones ever win a big game? The jury is still out.

South Carolina is about as down as they've been since their 0-11 season back in '98. It's bad over in Columbia.

Kentucky is also not competitive. I think they'll be making a coaching change after next year.

Vandy's hire was odd from the start. He'll get another couple of years, but I'm seeing no progress.

And the biggest dumpster fire is Mizzou. Who would want to take that job with all the crap going on at their University? It could take years for them to recover. And that is dependent upon their students not making any more demands involving their football team.

Things are about as bleak in the East as I can ever remember. I like Georgia's situation better than any of the others, so that's positive I guess. But I don't see the East returning to its glory days like the 1990s anytime soon.

Lot of turnovers and several that lead to points as it pertained to putting our d in horrible spots.

Our o was our defenses worst enemy. Especially versus bama and uf and special teams killed our d versus ut.

Except Herman wanted to go to Texas, LSU, FSU first.

They're still Florida, they'll still recruit. They are going to be much better in coming seasons.

He's recruiting so very well ... I agree though, can he coach'em up. Time will tell.

Agreed. But we're in a much better position to recover in a hurry this time around. Make the right hire, bring in the right supporting staff, sign some decent recruits, develop the ones returning ... we're in a much much better position right now than we were back then. Facilities, expectations, etc.

Basketball school. Always has been, always will be. But Stoops is not going anywhere anytime soon and they'll be in a position to play spoiler for anyone who overlooks them under Stoops.

Vandy is Vandy. Again, that's the East ... Vandy and Kentucky are who they are, identity wise, as football programs. Vandy has pretty much always been that way - it's not going to change because, no matter what they do, they are still Vandy academically.

Mizzou has the toughest hill to climb due to the events that occurred on their campus, their geographical location and their competition for recruits in said geographical location. GP was their selling-point. They do not have the facilities to sell ... so seeing what happens to them is going to be an interesting show to watch. I'm not sold that they are going to be a complete shite show though. They have pride and they now have SEC money. And let's face it, what happened on their campus might play well, with some, on the recruiting trail. They'll get some players with chips on their shoulders.

Florida's situation is better than Georgia's right now. So is Tennessee's. Both are returning their head coaches and staffs. Both are recruiting well. Both have all the ingredients, to make a solid comeback, in place.
