Back in my college days, it was a great time. And I still have a great time at the game, but we have to endure more hostility, and more bad sportsmanship than we used to. I have to brush up on my zen, and remind myself that it is the friends with whom we revel that is important.
So many great similarities and alums and coaches from one school who coached or played at the other. Vince Dooley, Erk Russell, Pat Dye, Joel Eaves, Shug Jordan, Rodney Garner, Stacy Searels... the list goes on.
But somewhere in the last decade+ or so, the game got nasty, and the fans got nastier. The Dawgs got a little big for their britches. Not sure if it is a projection of jealousy for us grabbing a ring when we have the opportunity before they did, or whether it's the proximity of the schools, or the fact that they now perceive themselves to be elitists, but something happened.
I miss the older games when the mood was more congenial, and the fans weren't as vitriolic, but it is still the oldest rivalry in the deep south's History, and with the 120th renewal, I will be there as I am every year.
Good luck Dawgs, you're going to need it this year. :-)

Agreed. UGA fans are the most easily butthurt fanbase. Always finding something to cry about.
They don't ever win shite so they try to make up for it by pretending they're some moral beacon of college athletics and that attitude makes it 100x worse.

Fairley hit them so hard that their pussies may never recover.

Probably different because y'all lose 80% of the time. Who would enjoy that?

That'd be a sick burn if ya'll had more than a one game lead. But you dont, and that shite is about to disappear.

We shall see soon enough. A lot can go down when you have nothing to lose...

The last time I was in Athens the girls I had with me said they got spit at and barked at. They most likely exaggerated a little bit but they were pissed off.
I had lots of fun in Athens though and didn't have any problems personally. The bar scene was amazing

That died with Richt
They seem to be more open about being just like any other SEC school now. That should help the rivalry, which I think is on the verge of returning to some level of decency

If this is the case, do they need to wear athletic supporters?

That's some nice shade you're throwing. Everything was cool until 2010 and you guys started celebrating that POS Fairley and acting like assholes ever since.

UGA started the a-hole shite. Soulja Boy, trashy fans who trash their own stadium. We were Mark's Super Bowl after he lost to Uf. Shits different this time.

UGA improved academically and Auburn became the backup school for UGA rejects. Really as simple as that.
Also think UGA dominating Auburn the past ten years has only made little bro syndrome stronger for Auburn fans.

HOPE. If the bible thumpers in Alabama would allow a lottery there wouldn't be a bit of difference.

Or maybe it was our 2 SEC titles and 2 NC appearances during that time that has you all on edge a little bit?
