They made us forfeit 8 wins a tie in 93 all because Antonio Langham signed a napkin for an agent.

I sleep just fine. Either you're too young to remember or not willing to admit that was the sentiment surrounding jackie with ole miss fans. But I know, it's a whole lot cooler to act like you were never concerned about him or he got under your skin.

The more ole miss/msu fans think they're different, the more you find out they're just alike but too stubborn to admit it. Ole miss being under scrutiny now was just like was from 2002-2004 for state. The roles are reversed.

2 and fricking 10 and still hauled in a better class so you had to fire your coach the next year and bring in the recruiting guru as HC. Or is that not the storyline with coach O?

While I agree that number is too high, Alabama didn't have academic fraud, over a half dozen Boosters named in the NOA with multiple coaches that spanned over back to back coaching regimes and athletic directors.

If I remember correctly, Bama self-imposed 14 scholly's and 1 yr bowl ban....they received 21 scholly's and 2 yr bowl ban. And they cooperated fully with the NCAA, coaches/administrators weren't found lying to the NCAA, etc.

There's no argument against this.

Cut was a terrible recruiter. 2004 showed us exactly what that team was without a future two-time super bowl mvp on roster.

I just seems that "if" Harris/Kiffin/Freeze had run some of these issues by Compliance then they would have nixed everything relative to the laundry list of allegations for the booster (Hughes). They would have never allowed a booster to provide travel, meals, lodging for a recruit & his family? They wouldn't have allowed the booster to attend a breakfast at Freeze's house with recruits and their families, or host recruits and OM coaches at his own home.

Their compliance guys are likely very complicit in the cheating and take the approach of how do we cover up what we know is going to happen.

I would imagine they fear Bjork, who is a supposedly not the nicest man in the world. Ironically, they actually have Bjork and the entire OM fanbase by the balls.

If they decided to rat, things get real, real ugly for OM..ever more so than they may already be right now.

The compliance department should go to the chancellor and Bjork and demand pay commensurate with a coordinator on the football team or threaten to walk and talk...

OK..So to make your logic more illogical.. You can't pick and chose which allegations to pick out then say they got penalties for this..To make this simple

ULL- ACT scam for 6 athletes and improper benefits of more than $6500, as well as lying and lack of cooperation from Coaches..They received scholarship losses 11/3 and 2 years probation..Nix 2010 violation was improper housing for recruit no price attached.

Oregon (2013) received 3 yrs probation and scholarship reduction 5/3..for improper booster activity, with hotels, cars, recruiting trips and improper contact.

Parts 1, 2 and 4 should receive scholarship losses 12/3 and 2 years probation and less on the road visits.. Kiffen was already suspended from on the road recruiting.

Part 3. Scholarship losses 3/3 so 1 a year

Total- Scholarship 15/3
Probation 3 yrs
No post season Ban ( Neither ULL or UO receive post season ban

NCAA-- Some penalties, such as public reprimand and censure, are commonplace. Others, such as bans on postseason competition and television, are rarely applied. The committee attempts to protect student-athletes who were not involved in the violation.

Not sure why I'm bothering, since no one in this thread, including OP, actually believes anything like this is going to happen, but most people probably don't know the deal with Hughs. Synopsis stolen from another board:

quote:

Facts around Hughes:
He hasn't held season football tickets since 2009.
He is an FCA leader/mentor for kids in the Memphis area, particularly at East High School.
He had never been involved with recruits for us before, other than these few that he knew at the specific high school where he helps out.
He took kids to Auburn, Arkansas State, and other schools, not just Ole Miss.
Hughes's relationship with Harris and Freeze started when Harris and Freeze were at Arkansas State recruiting Moore and a couple others to play at Arkansas State. They were using Hughes (not an Arkansas State booster) as a mentor contact point BEFORE they got the Ole Miss job. The only thing that changed was that THEY moved to a school where Hughes had attended and where he had held season tickets at one point years before.
And last but not least, the one kid that he was a mentor for that we landed was Herbert Moore, a 2 star reserve defensive tackle that we would've had no need whatsoever to cheat to get. He was coming the minute he got an offer from Ole Miss

That one will be a Level 2 or potentially even a Level 3 violation by the time all is said and done. There will be no scholarship reductions or show causes from that.

You made a very important point. Ole Miss fans don't realize that it's not all about the severity of each allegation. What is very important to the NCAA is how well do you cooperate and who was involved in the allegations. On top of the 8 level 1 allegations, they continuously lied to anyone who would listen about the NOA. While people can claim that the NCAA is not consistent, no one can claim that they aren't consistent on punishing the ones who lie. Lying to the NCAA or public can be just as bad as the allegations themselves when the COI is considering everything. And while there were only $16,000 in improper benefits, the involved 8 boosters, the head coach, 4 current assistant coaches and 2 former assistant coaches as well as a former GA. Then you throw in the draft night texts between tunsil and 2 assistant AD's and it looks really bad. In total that's EIGHTEEN boosters and staffers involved in this thing.

While the NCAA didn't uncover all the money involved, they did uncover most of the hands that the money touches, and that is just as bad. This isn't a one time rouge coach or booster thing. This is an orchestrated effort by boosters, members of the coaching staff and members of the athletic department to blatantly cheat. It's enough to frick them. And they are going to get fricked.

I'm not arguing OM wasn't after MSU/Jackie. I hate Jackie and still do to this day. But 2003??? No one was worried about State then.

As was stated in the C34 retirement post- C34 was just the mouthpiece. Now Elitedawgs has a new mouthpiece. Way too many people involved to let all the good info go to waste

Hey Ole Miss fans... I was curious if you guys have any players on your roster that aren't corrupted by your athletic department down there. Reason I am asking is because when sanctions start to fly, suspensions are doled out, show causes levied, and players start to transfer Arkansas could use some scout team guys. But we only recruit uncommon men.
