As long as that's in place, incidents like these will continue to happen on a regular basis.

Funny how everybody else had no problem conforming to the rule.

Bama didn't sign 25 last year. At least 2 of the 26, and probably 3, were back counted.

No it won't. When you reach 25, you tell everyone else you don't have room for them. It's the coaches fault if they committed themselves to lesser talent before signing day.

Yet for some reason Philon was forced to take a grey shirt at bama after have a scholarship if he wanted to play at bama.

Philon was told last week that if a couple of guys we wanted signed with Bama, he would have to take a greyshirt or walk.

So bama had two or three backcount and signed 26, so they should of had room for one or two, correct?

Both of those guys got full rides to SEC schools. I won't cry for them. You shoot for the top, sometimes you don't make it.

exactly. you just made my point. A kid that had a scholarship for 80% of the recruiting process, all of a sudden was told he didn't have one by no fault of his own. For some reason other SEC schools don't have trouble with this.

So long as there are trees in the ground or balls in pants incidents like these will continue to happen.
Just using that to point out how ridiculous it is to shift blame like that.

I agree completely. Bama avoids this problem by telling committed kids who are injured after their offer that they have only a grayshirt offer, and if that is not acceptable then they should look around. Then kid knows the deal and can decide whether to visit other schools, et.cet.
Bama created this problem by continuing to recruit the positions these kids played without telling them their offer had been changed, and forcing them into a grayshirt because of oversigning. Situation was preventable and should have never happened. Was created due to arrogance on the part of the Bama staff.

It was created, by the staff doing it's job. There would be all kinds of complaining if he hadn't continued recruiting players, and then one or two that were committed signed with other schools. Everyone needs to get their panties out of a wad and grow up. Life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid, and alot of you are acting like you're going through a really hard time right now.

I see this being the hit point for the next class. Like the the last one or two you heard talk of recruits being told about the one year deal. Now it will be this.

quote:Yeah. It makes the school look bad, and will be used against us by other coaches. Was it really worth it for Tomlinson and Kirven?

Anything can be used to make the school look bad. Auburn has 43% attrition under Chiz, think that doesn't make them look bad? Les throws players under the bus if they waiver. Think that doesn't look bad? People need to step back, quit the the emotional outbursts and see things for what they are. He didn't sign and then get told to leave. He signed the same day from his choice of 5 other schools. He still had an offer to come to Bama, just delayed. That's not too shabby, when you consider there are thousands of kids that would love to go to Bama but never will, because of finances or for whatever reason. Life will hand you alot of disappointments, he got his first big one. Now it's up to him to pull himself up and move one and do something to better himself. This crying by everyone, because someone was disappointed is ridiculous.
