They don't have to pay for anything. They don't enroll in any college until they arrive at Bama.

They can enroll at a JC if they want to. They certainly don't have to. But whether they do or not, the grayshirt offer is giving them a full year of graduate school...a better deal. Yet when the idiots are asked to explain why this is a bad deal, all we get are crickets.

"IF" the kid wants to come to Bama and accept the grayshirt offer then he "should" take a couple of online classes through a JC this summer and a couple in the Fall as well.

He could knock out the freshman English & Lit classes as well as a history class or two. An online class at Wallace JC runs about $400 per class. Those classes transfer in to Bama with no problem and he'd be ahead of the game with his course work when he comes in January. He could get a personal trainer/nutritionist and work on gaining weight and conditioning so that he'll be physically prepared when he get to UA.

I fail to see why this is a bad deal.

At some point the parents should step in and look at the overall plan with him. So what if he doesn't get to sign on Wednesday with Alabama? Get over it and lay out a plan for his future.

It's a good deal. If he doesn't get enough playing time and is good enough, he could become a graduate transfer, which is about as close to free agent in college football you can get.

I wish that kid that went to Arkansas would have took the grayshirt.

Get mad at the rule that prevents giving scholarships to any player that wants to attend and compete, rather than call Saban the Devil.

You do realize Bama is not pulling his scholarship?

You do understand that right?

Auburn values integrity over the win at all costs attitude Saban and bammer employ. I have never seen this situation happen at Auburn

Did you really have to ask this question about a post by Phan?

It's Phan. Dumb is what he does best.

Not giving a frick, I guess.

Everyone needs to realize that it's fricked up to leave a player in a situation like that, no matter how much you love your coach or team. Everyone also needs to realize that it happens all the time and is apart of the recruiting game. No, it isn't fair. Yes, it does suck for the player. Sometimes it works out for the best, sometimes it doesn't. Alabama does it, Tennessee does it, Auburn does it, Ohio State does it, Florida State does it, etc.

Hopefully, for this kid, everything will work out.
