These teams can play if you let them hang around.
The Tenn oline was outplayed.

Southern Miss can play with a SEC team too.
Jacksonville State will not be a pushover next week at LSU.

At least these small teams leave it out there and throw the kitchen sink at you win or lose.

Agree. They were unlucky to catch Tennessee on the night where UT played way over their heads. The win was flukey, certainly, but sometimes flukes happen with evenly matched teams, and sometimes the better team doesn't win. Tough loss for Appy. I hope losing to UT doesn't dishearten them and ruin their season.

No they wouldn't have. THeir offense was one-dimensional, and their 2nd touchdown was a bit fluky. Most SEC teams would have shut them out, or held them under 10 points.

I think it has more to do with App St. not having the depth to maintain than UT's D getting it together.

We won't know if that is true until both those teams have played 6+ games IMO. The looked really soft up the middle in the first half, and they certainly stopped that in the second half. That isn't a depth thing, as OL and RBs dont really change in a game usually

I wouldn't say 10 but I know my football and they played like a beast. That front 7 looked damn good and not one player took a snap off to chill. They came to win and I'm damn glad it wasn't our first game.

No.

Now, in the 1st game of the year, playing at full strength, throwing everything they have at an opponent, running an unconventional offense against a sleepwalking team who drank too much of their own Kool-aid, they would have given a lot of teams fits.

3-4 games into the season tho, they might be able to beat 4 teams in the SEC.

Not sure that's true.

and a coach that kept running the ball up the middle right at Tenners strength.

App St really had no business being on the field w/ an SEC team, at least a good one.

Most teams like 1 OL group to play to gain continuity. RBs change but there are only 2-3 that play 80% of the snaps.

That group usually has 6-7 O-linemen for reasons of depth and rotating.

L-oh-fricking-L.... Personally, I thought both teams looked like trash. App State blew the game with a missed XP and a ridiculous coaching error. UT O-Line was getting beat up by that defense like they stole something.
