So the KY state title game had more?

That's an annual rivalry game that regularly draws 40,000+.

Texas, where parents hold their kids back at a young age so they'll have an advantage if their kids happen to play football 12 years later

Texas High School football is a special thing and I don't know why anyone would deny it. Texas quarterbacks are like Louisiana running backs: always a threat.

LSU has been able to benefit from some outstanding Texas players the past few years, so I can't imagine why we won't admit the greatness that is Texas high school FB. Take atalented Texas player and combine that with the toughness he will develop at LSU and he's going to the NFL.

Congrats on finding one other largely attended game.

Just trying to keep things in check, and big catholic cities all seem to have cross school big games. X vs T uses Cardinals Stadium, they have one in Cincinnati that uses the Bearcats Stadium and so it goes. We are all get you are proud of TX hs football, but as hg noted above, it is not like the other hs in 49 other states have no football.

There is a reason there is no college football on friday nights and it is not exclusive to TX. If it was, ESPN would broadcast TX hs football on friday nights and college football in the other 49 states.

On a side note, if you have to keep a city with 100,000 locked into a single high school, that is just sad man. Unnatural monopolies are UnMerica!

Good for the link The state championship game doesn't draw as many as the regular season game.

The link was from a top 10 series for schools across the US, so it was that specific year.

I have been to that game as family played in it and 40K or more seems more correct, the past few years the game has been very lopsided and that may have affected the numbers. It has better tailgating than many college games I have been too and big chunk never make it to the game or it might be near capacity of 55K. Drunk catholics party better than sober southern baptists and nothing quite so surreal as IRA folks fundraising at tailgates. God bless the Irish.

I went to one HS game last year and both sides did this throw chalk thing too. Do students at other HS's in other states do this as well? I imagine its as cliche now as the football team running through a banner.

Pretty much anywhere 2 catholic schools meet helps but put it a few hours from South Bend and you get this.

Other states may have larger schools but you can't beat the environment and intensity of HS football in south Louisiana. There's a ton of Catholic schools down here which makes the public vs private school games just as good.

Geoff Ketchum is one of the founders of Rivals.com. He is a fricking longhorn drop-out, but still a delusional fan. When a player commits to the fricking longhorns, he rates them waaaaay higher than they should be rated. The last years of Mack Brown caught up to him because he thought he had a bunch of 5* players, but really had a bunch of scrubs. This is all done to keep the perception that the fricking longhorns are still relevant. It's painfully pathetic, but at the same time, funny as frick.

This must be a new thing because I went to the high school in the picture(Plano Senior High School) and we didn't do that then but that was 15 years ago.
