quality might not be as good as it was, but the aura, excitement and feel of a Texas hs game is second to none

See this is the problem with everything Texas football. At all levels. Ya'll would rather brag about having the nicest things, the most money, etc etc than actually being good at winning things on the field. It's all about looks with Texas football than results.

Was a good night for Allen and Plano. Our defense and O line left a lot to be desired, though. At times we made the Tyler qb look like manziel.

Texas players as a group are over rated and over pampered.

Overrated? Yes.
Over pampered? frick you. You don't know shite.

Texas players are (or have been) overrated, almost exclusively thanks to Geoff Ketchum. A QB recruit just recently moved up 100 spots without playing a single down of football his HS senior year. Ask yourself why and go look at the associations and recent events. It is beyond commical. Not even any efforts to be subtle about it.

Don't feel like doing the research. Please enlighten me.

Oh, and say what you will, a high school kid playing in front of that many people is pretty .

Man screw Allen. Their fricking band should be illegal. You can't hear chit. I have never seen a band that big in HS or college.

That's one band? Damn, does Allen HS require students that don't make the football team to join the band?

It's nuts. I went to watch them play Plano west a few years ago and the band took up half of John Clark stadium's visitor side. Here is a pic of the visitor bleachers.

And the fricking band director struck up the band every time the opposing offense lined up to run a play so they couldn't hear the snap count. I mean every time. 1st down, 2nd down, 3rd down..... all game long. It should be illgal. I was on the other side and I couldn't hear myself talk. I was actually mad about it. LOL

You do realize other high schools in the country play football too

Largest in the country (yes, it is not in TX)

Pretty much anywhere 2 catholic schools meet helps but put it a few hours from South Bend and you get this.

So 2 schools play @ UL and have 35K. That is impressive.

Allen-Cypress Ranch game had over 52K last year.

And they were the visiting team, mind you. I don't know if you can tell but those are big bleachers.

Wasn't that for the state championship?

T(rinity) vs (X)avier game is a regular season game. You are missing the bigger point, T vs X is played in a basketball crazy low population state (KY). Let that percolate for a second, get back to me when it sinks in.

A city of 100,000 people has ONE high school. They are following the Plano Senior High School model of the late 80's early 90's.

So, no. Only the band geeks are in the band. It's just that they have so many kids that the band geek ratio appears higher.

They are not in band because they 'couldn't make' the football team. It's not like band is a second choice. More of those will get scholarships and go on to higher paying jobs than the football players will. Glad to see that many involved in music.

But you are right. That's too damn many to try to put on the field, you can't do any kind of drill with that many - basically just stand there and play.

I would split them up into two, maybe three units and have each one do a different show and rotate them to performing at different games. But that's just me.

So the KY state title game had more?

Congrats on finding one other largely attended game. For every one you find out of Texas, I can find 20 in Texas.

Geoff Ketchum is one of the founders of Rivals.com. He is a fricking longhorn drop-out, but still a delusional fan. When a player commits to the fricking longhorns, he rates them waaaaay higher than they should be rated. The last years of Mack Brown caught up to him because he thought he had a bunch of 5* players, but really had a bunch of scrubs. This is all done to keep the perception that the fricking longhorns are still relevant. It's painfully pathetic, but at the same time, funny as frick.
