And as T-Bird pointed out, they're still in shock that we pulled the trigger.
TO A MAN, *none* of them thought we'd really do it. A lot of what's going on with their end of things right now is just shell-shock. It's that ringing noise they use in war movies to simulate hearing loss when a flash-bang goes off.
It's as if one of the sides in the Cold War had actually launched a pre-emptive nuclear decapitation strike and pulled it off. In the span of just two years they've lost the spotlight, their stranglehold on Texas recruiting, their Natty-winning head coach, and their big-dick-acting, shite-talking, 30-year-tenured a-hole athletic director.

So we left the Big XII at a time when Texas and OU were at 15 year program lows and went to the SEC West because we were scared?
Interesting theory.
I thought it was more to do with UT being dictators of the conference
or some other rabble rabble similar to that

So A&M was scared of the competition of UT. And because of that fear they went to the SEC West. Interesting proposition.
again, had more to do with Texas running the conference

I just don't get why so many people care so much about this. we don't want to start playing any time soon. they don't want to play any time soon. we are both 100% fine with that. I just don't get why whenever one side says something its news

Big 12 without Nebraska, Colorado, or Missouri > SEC West?
I guess LSU should flee to the "stronger" conference.

Really? Come on bro of course it will be news. I personally want to see the game and watch the Aggies bring hell upon them, but that is just my opinion.

sigh
all i've done is provide statements that i've read on here about how aTm wanted out of the conference due to Texas having a chokehold on the conference

I guess what I meant was, weve both been saying the same exact stuff time after time in regards to the game. none of this is new news, its the same thing both sides have been saying for a while

not all of us frequent aTm and UT boards to see how they feel regarding the rivalry

so why not just say that?
i have 3 times now

every single time a thread like this pops up, we say the same exact thing

In this context, your comment doesn't make any sense.

i've seen a number of aTm posters want the rivalry to continue
in this thread as well
in this thread as well

so then why didn't you say that off the bat? there is no way
quote:meant that we left because they pushed everyone aroud
considering texas didn't sprint from the conference as fast as they could, yes

It wouldn't benefit A&M at all. There's no upside for us. It's like playing a bowl game against a historically bad team that's having one okay year. If you lose to them you tarnish your brand. If you win, nobody cares.
UTw, on the other hand, gets the chance to be the brand-tarnisher AND exposure to SEC recruits on the SEC Network, so there's a great deal of potential upside for them, but they can't look like they're begging for it right now as all that would do is reinforce the perception that they're THE program that got bitch-slapped by the effects of SEC expansion.
Let me interpret this - A&M is content with losing to UT 76 times and is willing to let that record stand, rather than taking the risk of playing the game with a chance at losing and having the public perception that UT is the superior program reinforced.
