Comparing the B12 with Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and A&M is completely irrelevant. What matters is going forward.
By any objective measure the Big 12 is the 5th best football conference. They also have no championship game. They are the worst positioned to get in that "Final 4" and it isn't really close.
Something else that is going to really put a strain on the Big 12 is their viewership is going in the toilet and falling. Want a truly shocking statistic? This season over 52 million people watched an A&M game. At the same time only 15 million watched a Texas game. Here are the stats:
UT-BYU ............. 0.8 ..... 1,290,000
UT-Ole Miss ........ 0.1 ..... 130,000 (LHN)
UT-ISU ............. 1.5 ..... 2,400,000
UT-OU .............. 3.0, .... 4,710,000
UT-TCU ... 0.4, .... 676,000 (What an upgrade!)
UT-KU .............. 0.1 ..... 130,000 (LHN)
UT-WVU ............. 1.5 ..... 2,650,000
UT-OSU ............. 1.4 ..... 2,190,000
UT-Tech ............ 0.7 ..... 1,050,000 (Same as N. Illinois-Toledo)
A&M-Rice ........... 2.7 ..... 4,200,000
A&M-'Bama .......... 8.5 ... 13,590,000
A&M-SMU ............ 0.5 ..... 809,000
A&M-Arky ........... 1.7 ..... 2,760,000
A&M-Ole Miss ....... 3.2 ..... 5,110,000
A&M-Auburn ......... 4.2 ..... 6,730,000
A&M-UTEP ........... 0.7 ..... 1,120,000
A&M-MSU ............ 2.9 ..... 4,530,000
A&M-LSU ............ 4.8 ..... 8,140,000
A&M-Mizzou ......... 3.6 ..... 5,730,000
Average share:
A&M ...... 3.28
UT ...... 1.06
Total viewers:
A&M ...... 52,719,000 viewers
UT ...... 15,181,000 viewers
Now you can certainly say some of that is the JFF factor but he isn't responsible for a greater than 3 to 1 advantage, if anything the SEC is the larger factor.

Here's a basic summary of the thread.
Article: A&M best job
Aggies: not best job. But good points as to being a top job.
Ranttards: LOL. Aggy is gay and Collie Station sucks. NO frickING WAY A&M is #1 job.
Aggies: yes, we agree it is NOT #1 job. Still a top job and arguably better that the situation at SC
Ranttards: Aggy is gay. frick you. SC didn't offer. You will never win jack shite. Prepare anus.
Aggies: okay?
I'll finish for you. frick all of you. It's a shitty job and Sumlin is a shitty coach. SC didn't offer. frickin' stupid aggy.

seems legit.
You can always spot a dumb football fan when they try to pretend the game is a 1 on 1 QB skills challenge. I'll never understand why some people ignore the rest of the team.

I don't think most of the rant falls into this. Most of the SEC realizes that A&M has the potential to be a very good team. At the same time, fans from the top SEC teams get a little prickly when A&M fans assume they are on the same level as the teams who have won the big games consistently based only on A&M's potential for future success (money, recruits, etc.).

Most of the other schools in the SEC are rich.
Rich 'enough' anyway.
There are 13 other schools besides YOU that play in the SEC. You're not the only one.
Louisiana annually produces the most Division 1 players 'per capita.'
While Texas may produce the most in sheer numbers, many leave the state of Texas to play their CFB.

And still can't win. Must be the coaching.

You don't know Atlanta then. ATL is very gay friendly. Midtown has gay bars up and down.

So... you could say that more people watched LSU dismantle JFF (again) that any other game aTm played this year and nearly as many that watched UT all season. I like it. Up vote.

All very valid points but I just posted the article, I didn't write it. Several SEC schools could make the argument they are the best job, by the standards of the writer I would suspect UF would actually have the strongest claim actually but UGA, LSU, and Bama could all make a strong argument.
The writer picked A&M based on the fact that Texas has the most overall talent in the State and A&M has very, very deep pockets so the SEC move is the game changer. It's really more of a "why A&M is a better job than Texas" article in some ways.
Personally I think the "best" job is always relative. The best job for one coach may not be for another, it takes the right fit. Most of the Top 10 or so jobs are about even really depending on the coach. Any of them have great facilities, recruiting, revenue, and are willingness to pay their coaches that produce to keep them.

I thought it was more of a "why Sumlin didn't accept the non-offer from SC" article, but okay.
The best job is so fluid. One thing is for God Damn Certain!!!! A programs historical prestige means absolutely DICK in many circumstances. The job is also relative to the coach's current position (a point many inexperienced pubes don't understand yet but shoot their fricking mouths off anyway). Example:
Tim DeRuyter would be making a pretty good move by going from Fresno State to UW or SC. Not so much from UCLA to either of those two unless there is some special tie to the university.
Kevin Sumlin would not be making a significant upgrade by going to SC. It's too risky given the shite that program has been going through. There is likely not a job in the country that is so significantly better than A&M that one would call Sumlin an idiot for passing on, except maybe POTUS.
Same goes for just about every SEC West program save MAYBE MSU, but it would have to be for Bama, t.u., SC, or the like, AND the program would have to be in pretty decent shape (not SC). In the East, every team but Kentucky and Vandy would be a final job unless the coach was looking for an out (example of "out" would be Kiffin from Tenn, frickchione from Bama).
Some seem to think program history means a whole lot of shite, but laugh when we use the same logic to tout Princeton as the #1 job.

Then, Hawaii is the best job? Notre Dame sucks? Hell, Gainesville is nearly identical to College Station.

I think that was the point of the article. That A&M is a good job. The exaggerated title is to get traffic to their website.

Bottom line:
Is a second year SEC Head Coach Coach okay with the coin in Sumlin's contract?
The answer is yes and you can be sure that when Sumlin wins his first SEC Championship in the near future, the Aggies will give him a big raise.
This is about spending whatever is necessary to become an elite program.

From a coaches perspective, it is hard to argue.
We have very low expectations compared to Fl, TX or even USC. We are expected to be a doormat in the SEC.
We have tons of cash and tons of kids to pick from. We pay well, and we are throwing money at everything right now.
You can't say all that about some of the higher profile jobs. The one downside is location from a living standpoint, but in all honesty, being an hour from houston means you can do just about anything you want if you are rich. We also have an airport so you could keep a private jet or do a timeshare.
