BS. Tickets to our series in Jerry World were $300 at your insistence. The athletic dept needed the money to pay the general fund back the millions it borrowed.

Holy frick it's 2009 again folks!

When you decide to join us in the present, you'll find that the TAMU AD is the country's most profitable. It also generates the 6th most revenue.

Good luck in your anachronistic life.

And evidently you aren't if you think anyone in their right mind passes over a $5million/yr job for a $2.75 million/yr job.

If Sumlin is overpaid, the Aggies can well afford it.

Kyle Field was sold out at 105% of capacity last season which was tops in the SEC. The stadium capacity increases to 109,000 for the 2014 season.

Texas A&M is buying an elite level football program and there isn't a m'fn thing anyone that doesn't like it can do but bitch.

Can aTm win Championships? If a coach just wants money great, but he won't be there long if he doesn't win.

How will aTm fans feel about Sumlin if all he gets is 7-8 wins in 2014?

Another raise.

7-8 win Season is well above average for atm and Sumlin deserves every penny of it.

I have seen this before. Why is it something to be proud of? Like saying I bought that home for twice what it's worth, but I can afford it. Wtf does that mean except that you aren't very smart IMO.

Kyle Field is over capacity for every game and will be a lot larger beginning next season.

Texas A&M set a record for contributions to a public university last year.

If Sumlin can't win Championships, the Aggies will hire somebody that can.

Uhmm... ok. It doesn't really appear atm wants championships when they reward such poor results.

I mean texas has 4 losses, like any other championship caliber program, their fans want to fire their coach.

When atm gets 4 losses, can't even beat a ranked team, not to mention they had the heisman trophy winner, you make him top 5 highest paid coaches in the country.

LMFAO... championships..

Exactly and I feel it is lost on the aTm fans here. I have heard about their biggest contribution ever and their big money in trust, but wtf does that mean? You reward a 4 loss coach with a top tier money. How smart is that?

Exactly.

Here is the irony of the thread title. aTm is the best coaching job in the country, but they had to pay a 4 loss coach 5 million a year not to leave...

The last two years of recruiting have been better than they have been for the last 25+ years. Recruiting is the lifeblood of all programs. When has A&M EVER had two top 10 recruiting classes in a row?

No championship team has ever won without at least 2 consistent top 10 recruiting classes in the previous 4 years.

That's been a problem for A&M caused by a number of factors (and I have very plausible conspiracies theories but won't bore you with them).

Ask yourselves this: Who got SOOO frickING MAD when A&M threatened to leave for the SEC in 2010 and actually did in 2011, but didn't give a rat frick when Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri left? Who is currently suffering from A&M's SEC membership?

Can A&M win championship? Not in the Big 12 (not only because it now sucks but....conspiracy theories that are demonstrable). In the SEC, A&M was is absolutely in the mix. In 2012, A&M was 8 points away from playing the SECCG. A win there would have put A&M in the BCSNCG. So, yes. A&M can win championships, just not under the prior dynamic.

I can agree with this, but enough with the aTm is the best coaching job because we have money. It's a stupid statement.

Oh, I agree with that. I think the fact that we paid a coach a bunch of money means NOTHING positive, and in fact proves that we had to shell out millions to keep a coach. That could be viewed as an argument to the contrary.

Aubie should be worried about only paying their Coach $2.4 million/yr. Let the Aggies worry about whether we want to retain our Coach.

So... You're saying atm can win the BCSNCG and you base your proof off of them finishing 3rd in the west last year, in the greatest season in aggy history, with the greatest qb ever?

That brings up an interesting twist.

So, Gus makes considerably less that other SEC coaches and all of the suddent SI reports that t.u. is his "dream job."

It is amazing that most fans fall for that crap. Gus wants to stay at AU. He nust wants a $2mm raise.

Wanna know how I know you have ties to the Big 12 and/or the sips?

He will get his raise. It's already under discussion with Sexton. Gus doesn't want anything to do with it until the season is over.

Grow up maroon. If you can't handle a big boy discussion gtfo. Learn from Kaiser

Aggie money comes out of the ground and contributions and endowment are growing each year.
