This. In particular the SEC has wisened up to the dangers of "bowl fatigue". To use Ole Miss as an example, three times in five years they wound up at the Independence Bowl. I am fairly sure it was hard for the Ole Miss fans to get fired up about that third trip.
You want to entertain the fans and you want to send teams to locations that there will be a big turn out. I expect the Texas bowl to get a steady rotation of A&M, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, and, from time to time, a Mississippi school. With the SEC and the Texas Bowl working to keep a team from going there too often over a stretch of time. Its smart business.

They'll eventually tell you how going to Houston served no purpose, boring...Oh, and they just played there at the beginning of the year. Nashville is a much better choice, better venue, blah, blah, blah...(they'll leave out the part where they just played there 3 weeks ago)
Somehow....in the circular logic world aggy lives in....letting EL ES EWE come to town and play a bowl game in their own backyard makes more sense than them playing in Houston.
What they really mean....is their weak offense and chinese fire drill defense won't get exposed by Coach Kingsbury and Mahomes.

i get that this is a troll, but i'll answer your question with a question anyway:
can you find a credible source saying that a&m "ducked" texas and/or tech?
if these schools had the win totals of a&m they'd at least have a more compelling case to get the right to play a&m. but they didn't/don't.
none of this even matters, as the conference places the teams in these bowls, not the schools themselves.

Don't have to be in the SEC to know the Line Beards, they make WVU look damn near civilized. Line Beards are in the ACC now and are better known as Louisville Cardinals. If you play them, expect your car to be jacked after the game.

If that is why you are posting on tRant, that is totally sad. Just because we make fun of TAMU does not give you the right. Too bad that PAC thing did not work, Baylor probably f*cked that up for you guys, as that would have been a good place for Texas Tech to land. Probably a karma thing for canning the Pirate. At least he is doing well with the Cougs now.

You are aware that half of the Big12 teams rank in the hundreds in total defense (including yours)? So I wouldn't flaunt that mighty Offense just yet.
