Texas A&M fans forced to pay exorbitant sums to hold onto Kyle Field seats
quote:
Fans and players will enjoy the updated facilities for years to come. But somebody — or many somebodies — has to pay the bill.
According to The Eagle, fans will foot more than half that bill through personal seat licenses (PSLs). It’s a common stadium financing practice that’s held deep NFL roots for years, but it’s more complicated at the college level. Athletic departments often package seats and tickets as incentive for donors.
The Kyle Field construction has led to a “reseating” process by The 12th Man Foundation. A group of endowed donors decided to take legal action against the foundation, but that pathway appears to be closing fast. After a judge dismissed the case on legal grounds in Texas, the group filed a class-action petition in Florida. According to The Eagle, that case has been dismissed as well.
The would-be plaintiffs claimed that the foundation intended to “reclaim and resell, at a higher price, the highest value benefits to a ‘new generation’ of Aggie alumni,” a violation of not only the law but of the school’s Code of Honor that says an Aggie “does not lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those that do.”

I had to double check the article date on this breaking news. This all started to go down a couple of years ago.
It's basically a relatively small group of "endowed" season ticket holders.

People will pay. They'll still sell out.

Oh hell no. PSL's in college?? I am debating my own scenario right now with the Falcons. The upside for me is that I get first dibs on any ticket sold in the new stadium. Bad deal for college.

It is "closing fast" because their suit is nonsense. They wanted their seats that are no longer there. They were offered seats of comparable value. No, no, no, that won't do. We want seats in the same location as our old seats. If that puts us in suites, well hell... ain't our fault.

So A&M's response is to frick them in the arse?

However, raising the prices at ATM involved actual brick and mortar in stead of simply painting more narrow stripes.

Supply and Demand. Only 67k seats.

Old news. You want first class you have to pay for first class. Stadium is sold out so most people are not complaining.

That's the way they do it in Tennessee.
This is old news. Those people were given a fair deal when the stadium was under re constructing. They thought they would play hardball and take it to the courts.
Game on, may the best lawyer win.

We actually reduced our seating capacity. Come back when you are not talking out your arse.

Be nice, bro. It is not polite to point out an obvious fault of our friends from Arkansas.

This is part of the reason I gave up my UK tickets and started watching from the comfort of my living room. All the additional fees that go with attending a game.

You have to pay good money to go watch a great DC.
