So about that reading thing...

Is this the point where we point out that he was responding to an Auburn poster?

Sucks that it's happening, but it's cleaning up the "grandfather clause" in which children and grandchildren are paying minimal rates for multi-year donors who have passed on.

A relatively small group want to be seated in suites since their old seats no longer exist.

They were offered good seats to replace the seats they lost.

Also there are 30,000+ students at each game, they get pretty good seats on the east side at a very reasonable price.

Bottom line is there is a waiting list for Texas A&M season tickets and a very high renewal rate. Keeping mine renewed!

They wanted their seats that are no longer there. They were offered seats of comparable value. No, no, no, that won't do. We want seats in the same location as our old seats. If that puts us in suites, well hell... ain't our fault.

That's not even remotely close to true. People with seats on the 2nd deck at the 50 with chairbacks are being offered bleachers seats in the end zones. A&M says ok we can put you back on the 50 but your donation just went up 50K even though we promised you those seats for life at a fixed rate.

The big story here is why so many people who would never purchase a ticket to see an A&M sporting event are so interested in this.

Want to buy A&M tickets? Get on the stand-by list. We will take your deposit gladly.

...and that's not remotely true either. Folks were promised seats in an "endowed section"; not 50 yard line armchairs...definitely not 50 yard line club seats. Key member of the lawsuit was a woman living in Florida that scalped her tickets to the games every year. Endoweds also got free road tickets, and there was a special endowed broker that handled scalping all those tickets as well.

This always happens after a renovation. Alot of Saints fans were forced to either pay more or move their season tickets after the lowere bowl of the Superdome was renovated and I think LSU had ticket price jump after the expansion last year. It sucks but somebody has to pay for the renovations, expansions, etc and it is better than tax dollars.

This kind of thing is happening all over. The stadium arms race is leading to huge increases in the cost of attending the game. That sucks for those alumni who have been supporting the program for decades. The same is true for the NFL and their silly licensing scam.

Why does that suck for them? Because they support it so much they aren't willing to pay more. Seems to me they have been getting a hell of a deal for a long time. Its not like A&M is telling them to stop watching. They rebuilt that side of the stadium into something 100x nicer. Its going to cost more for the best seats. If they don't (can't?) pay for it then they'll move over a few sections. Big deal.

Looks like you don't read well either.

Here's a hint: You can tell who is responding to who by looking next to the subject line.

They offered to return 100% of the original donation back to these people. They offered them free seats elsewhere in the stadium. These people are scum and deserve to be run out of town on a rail, not martyred.

The seats they were offered elsewhere in the stadium were of lesser quality than the ones they originally had. That's a raw deal. BUT, the fact that they were offered the original doantion back is the clencher. No one can reasonably claim that they made the original donation with the intent of securing those seats as an investment; college football wasn't that popular at the time and the resale market was literally just street scalping back then. Thus, they made the donation for the sole purpose of enjoying the games themselves, which A&M/tTMF was offering to go back and make free for the past 20-whatever years. That's why they don't have a case. A&M/ The TMF says "look, we offered them their money back, so we were basically offering to make the seats they used to have retroactively free for decades, and they still wouldn't take it." At that point, they look to be people just trying to game their way into a club level upgrade. A fair deal is "here's your money back and here's a priority level admission into the bidding for seats in the new stadium" - which is what they got.

only A&M fans would care how well endowed a season ticket holder is.

This is part of the reason I gave up my UK tickets and started watching from the comfort of my living room. All the additional fees that go with attending a game.
