We already have commitments from the top two players in the state (#11 and #61 player nationally), and we are the favorites for #3 as well.

Not sure why you don't think this staff can recruit in-state.

That matters not.

Historically speaking it is a proven fact that for Tennessee to win consistently, to win big, they have to also sign the best players from GA, SC, NC, VA and even a few from Texas and California every now and then. But GA, SC, NC and VA have to be willing to give-up their best to UT and those days are long gone IMHO.

IF Butch Jones is what he seems to be, about 3 years.

They have a ways to go to catch Vandy. It's going to be a while.

I think the upswing in terms of results on the field begins in earnest in 2015. Butch Jones (unfortunately for us Vandy fans) I believe is the right man for job but UT fans will have to be patient. That patience will be severely tested if Vandy runs their current 1 game winning "streak" to 2 and then 3 games (Vandy will likely be favored in both games). If that happens, look for a volnation meltdown of epic proportions.

This is the Tennessee situation in a nutshell

Tennessee has very little talent on the roster,

I don't get this. Dooley's class rankings weren't bad. I know you have the lost class of Kiffin, but I don't understand why the talent isn't there. Watching you last year, the only place that the talent seemed lacking was the secondary. (Of course, that might have been the worst secondary I've ever seen at an SEC school) I know you lost most of your skill positions, but it seems like there should be decent talent at the school. The biggest problem was coaching, and that has been addressed. What am I missing?

UT needs to quit worrying about what other programs are doing and just do their own thing. With Bama and Fla having so much success they sold their collective souls and hired Kiffin. Worse than that, they supported him and all his jackassery. Have some respect for your program and let Jones clean it up and he will get you back to your winning ways.

What Bama is doing is unbelievable, so don't try to emulate them, just be Tennessee.

Give it a little time. I say 6-6 this year, 7-5 next year and 9-3 in 2015. And that is without even looking at the schedule.

I'll never understand how a state with two large metro areas (Memphis, Nashville) have such mediocre talent, what gives?

There were very few Tennessee natives playing for the Vols back in 60s or 70s. UT was the first SEC school to recruit the black athlete in numbers.Bama and LSU were very selective at first.
Fulmer took black athletes with severe character issues because he had to in order to win. UThug and Fulmer cup monikers were earned.
