But they will care about a trophy from a team who didn't win their conference? Of course they will. And guess who those fans will be? Bama fans. Nobody else GAF. You can close your eyes all you want or bury your head in the sand, but your statement applies to both if you want to make it.

Listen dude, nobody outside of Louisiana is going to care that LSU won a conference title and then got their brakes beat off by Bama.

People remember National Champions. Conference championships are regional, and carry even less clout when the conference champion loses in the National Championship. LSU will be remembered the same way Oklahoma is remembered from 2006, and Ohio State is remembered from 2007. They'll forever be remembered as the team that lost to (Fill in the blank) - in this case, Florida and LSU.

LSU's 2011 team will forever be remembered as the team that Bama beat for the 2011 National Championship - and that's about it.

Nobody outside of Florida (and a few SEC football fans of course) cares that Florida won the SEC Championship in 1995. You know why? Because they got beat by Nebraska 62-24 in the National Championship. That's what people remember about the 1995 season. Not that they didn't play a single game in which their opponent was able to keep the score within 10 points. Not that they scored 40+ points in 7 games - including 4 games of 50+.

Florida's 1995 team was one of the most dominant SEC teams in conference history. And nobody outside of the SEC remembers anything about them - other than the fact that they were the team that Nebraska destroyed for the National Championship. But hey... at least they get to keep their SEC Championship trophy, right?

LSU's 2011 team will suffer the same fate.

Yes and LSU outplayed Bama last year in all stats except the score, so what does that prove. Sometimes the best team does not win it all!!!!!

This analogy is best related to the game in Tuscaloosa during the 2011 season. It has nothing to do with the conversation we're currently discussing.

Although, one shouldn't be so quick to forget that Alabama held a 14-3 lead at halftime in the game you brought up.

Our 01 team may have been the most talented under Spurrier. Oh well.

I hear you, but Bama 2011 did win the BcS Championship even if we agree that it was a joke they had a second chance/do over.

Bama 2012

Tried to stop reading there. Fail #1.
quote:

UGA 2002
UF 2006
UF 2008

Two of those teams won a national title though I'm not sure 2008 Florida belongs on this list. They let one of Alabama's least talented teams take them to the 4th quarter in the SEC Championship game. Nick Saban did not have his program and philosophies set yet. The defense would be much better the next year and incredibly better in 2011. I'm pretty confident that 2011 Alabama is better than 2008 Florida.

LSU 2003

All I hear is great things about them, especially the defense.
quote:

UGA 2007
LSU 2007

Yeah, leave 2011 LSU and 2012 UGA off, but include a team that didn't win its division and the only 2-loss BCS National Champion that didn't have many pretty wins and lost in 3OT to 2 average teams.

Bama 2011

Undeniably.
quote:

Bama 2009

Eh. I haven't done my research. We're talking about an 11 or 12 year time frame right? I'm not so sure about this team. Clue me in somebody.
quote:

Barn 2010

Great offense. Great front-7 on defense. They don't belong on this list. I wouldn't count on them beating better defenses than the ones they faced in 2010, and there have been several better SEC defenses than 2010 SEC defenses in the past 12 seasons.

Don't slam my list.... post your own.

I can't go back that far. Sorry.

UGA 2007 is NOT one of the ten best teams.

Bama 2011
LSU 2011
LSU 2003
UF 2008
UF 2006
Auburn 2010
Auburn 2004
LSU 2006
Bama 2009
UGA 2005

IN NO ORDER.

I think 2006 was one of the best years in the SEC. I think there were 3 SEC teams that could beat just about anyone in the country.
Auburn 06
Florida 06
LSU 06
We're all unbelievably stacked.

Can't leave off 2012 Alabama, and include Auburn 2004, LSU 2006, and UGA 2005. IMO.

Well I wasn't taking into account 2012 but yeah Bama 2012 was decent. I just think the 2012 Bama team was the worst Saban team outside of 2008.

First team ever to go 14-0 and win a National Championship. Dominant team with talent across the board.

Yeah, it sucks that the circumstances for an arguably worse team fell in place the following year. I still find it odd that the OP didn't include 2011 LSU.

Easily above a 2 loss 2007 LSU.

Had 2010 Bama played to its talent, it could've went down as one of the greatest teams , ever. It's one of the most talented teams in the history of CFB. Third teamers that were all SEC players.

From what standpoint? The only way I see that being the case is if we're looking at talent levels. Saban's 2010 team lost 3 games. I'm assuming you weren't including his 2007 team - which was the only Alabama team in the last 43 years to not have a single player drafted.

Had more bling, but was inferior to the 11 and 12 squads.

1) 2011
2) 2012
3) 2009

I agree with this. Incredibly disappointing team.
