Bama's daddy?

Hell, you're not even Vandy's daddy, you trail them all-time.

What does that say about you schitty program?

Of course we have some. Our institution has been nationally relevant in football thus we accumulate sidewalk fans. Just not to the level of homicidal lunatics like the red and white.

What they don't want to talk about is WHY Bama has more sidewalks than Auburn.

The majority of sidewalk fans who are unaffiliated to the school in any way (parents didn't attend, immediate family, etc) will choose their school based on the success of whatever programs are available to support.

Bama fans attract those sidewalkers because of the success we've sustained as a football program. Generally, those people want something to make themselves feel good about who they are. They'll often lack an identity in anything else significant and don't have many personal accomplishments to hang their hats on - so they choose their football team to give them that.

What's funny is that Auburn fans want the rest of the SEC to beleive that's a bad thing. Is it embarrassing at times? Sure. But I wouldn't change it a bit. It means people identify Bama football with success and want to share a piece of it.

Surprisingly Alabama comes in at 26th (tied with Toledo) even with knowing they had a losing record for a decade

We had to vacate 21 wins between 2005-2007.

Yeah that makes up a very very small portion of the fan base. And if you think Bama has some crazy fans you should see fans of some non-CFB teams (like some soccer teams).

Most of these people you just mentioned wouldn't choose a school at all. They have chosen a team. It just happens to carry their state's name.

Good catch. Wish someone had posted this on the first page.

That would put us at #13 on the list, ahead of Auburn.

Actually, they're not any better at all. They just stubbornly cling to that misconception because the alternative is drowning in their collective ignorance.

I'll give you one guess as to which fanbase brought up the other first.

You even responded to it and agreed with it.

That's why we're having this conversation.

shite, Bama is not in our league academically. Not in the same universe.

There is a reason AU alums are 3rd in the sec in average earnings and Bama is a bottom feeder.

Hell, my firm will not even interview a Bama grad. Seriously.

We got a resume from a Bama grad last year actually. It was laughed at for a moment then discarded. Dead serious.

Funny thing is it was sent to me and I was asked if I wanted to talk to him or her. I was like seriously? Did you not see where their degree is from?

They didnt, laughed and moved on.
