No. There will be no lightening and no rain. Nothing. Sunshine, some clouds might pass by. Shreveport has NEVER had any weather effect from a hurricane. We're next to Arkansas.

I think it's way too early for anyone to be postponing a football game to be played this Thursday.

The GFS model has the storm going along the LA coast into Texas. There would be minimal effects to Ruston if this happens.

The European model has the storm going to Mobile and then north and northeast. That would mean sunny skies and beautiful weather all day long in Ruston.

I live in the NOLA area and we are all over this storm. There are too many variables right now. No reason for any decision to be made on that game until Tuesday. By then the storm will be making landfall somewhere and everyone will know what kind of weather the Ruston area will have.

Not sure if serious.

I know when Rita passed through, it was still either Cat 1 or tropical storm strength when the remnants passed over Fayetteville. The winds were crazy. Nothing that I was used to. It ripped bushes out of the ground that I had planted a few weeks earlier.

the latest models on the OT sticky thread would almost assure that it isn't played. Tulane/Rutgers either. Not sure if ULL is at home.

It wouldn't be the fear of the storm actually hitting Shreveport but rather the logistical issues of a massive evacuation being in process. During Ike or Rita (can't remember which) A&M had a game against Texas St they actually told people not to come to because Houston and Galveston were being evacuated and they didn't want the extra traffic. They ended up playing the game though. In '88 A&M had the "Hurricane Bowl" with Bama where they postponed a game and played it later in the year, though the Hurricane never ended up hitting.

That was Rita but they bumped that game up to a Thursday. Pretty fun game to be at actually.

There is a major difference between a hurricane and the remnants of a hurricane. Rita was a Class 3 hurricane when it hit the LA/TX border. It quickly dropped to a Cat 1 hurricane 75 miles inland. It remained a Tropical Storm to Texarkana. It was merely a tropical depression in Arkansas.

If you live 100 miles north of the Coast then you have no clue what a hurricane is. Rarely does a hurricane maintain hurricane force winds 50 miles inland. Also, hurricane force winds are very narrow in scope. Only in large hurricanes like Katrina do hurricane force winds extend more than 50 miles from the eye at landfall.

Hurricane Katrina, which was a very large hurricane, had hurricane force winds of 90+ in Mobile, which is 120 miles east of New Orleans. Katrina was a hurricane north of Hattiesburg and then dropped to a Tropical Storm between Laurel and Meridian.

Tropical Storm force winds now extend 230 miles out... Wouldn't matter if it downgraded quickly

Where would you like those boards to have been placed? And how would you like them put there?

Think about it

Yea, I don't see the problem. People can laugh about jumping the gun that far west, but isn't the old saying: "It's better to be safe than sorry".

As for the game, I hope it's played on time in Shreveport(If I have power). But seeing how your bye week is right before LSU, I wouldn't mind too much yall having to postpone it.
Whatever happens, happens, as long as everyone is safe

Good lord..... The masonry and window frames wouldnt support the weight to the plywood on the outside.

Busted glass > busted glass, water etc...inside your store

All I said is that it's still too early. We will all know a lot more tomorrow. No reason for anyone to make an impatient decision on a game being played Thursday today.

If the eye goes over where the NHC is predicting "right now" the effects in NW LA will be very minimal.

Anyone that knows anything about Hurricanes knows that the east side of the storm is the dirty side, not the west. You go 75 miles west of where the eye lands and you won't feel much of anything.
