A&M can try and sugarcoat it, but this class was a major failure. They need every one of their defensive signees to become contributors to avoid having serious holes in their depth a few years from now. And I'm not sold on the defensive players they have now being good enough to compete with the Alabamas and LSUs in the SEC West. Alabama and LSU played freshmen in the secondary because the talent deserved to be on the field. The underclassmen talent at A&M wasn't good enough to avoid using a converted RB as a starter at DB, and they didn't sign enough DBs to think that the situation in their secondary is going to improve.

A&M didn't have the Jimmies and Joes defensively this year, and they didn't add enough to gain any ground on their competition in the SEC West. I don't care how good A&M fans think John Chavis is. He can't X&O enough to make up for the talent gap that exists, and will continue to exist.

We had the nation's 4th ranked secondary in 2015.

Meanwhile yours fell from 3rd nationally to 57th.

Worry about your own team

A&M had the 2nd ranked scoring defense in the SEC west. They'll be fine.

Honestly, it is a shocker and shame you guys didn't pull a top 10 class, especially being the only SEC team in Tejas. Strengthen up that defense and fire sumlin.

It's not a shocker, but A&M realizes more now than ever that SEC as a selling point won't get them that far. When being SEC is the fifth or six most important reason for recruits to join the team, rather than one of the top three reasons, and they start beating teams that they shouldn't, it would be a surprise.

And yet we out recruited OU yet again, something that never happened before our SEC move.

You are full of it.

Our recruiting is what it is because Sumlin's seat is hot and we arent promising Tom as a replacement like some people.

Not bad considering they were the fourth or fifth best team in Texas last year

We signed 5 DBs and a transfer and we were 18th in pass efficiency defense in the country. The criticisms of DTs and LBs have some validity but this is ridiculous

Why does someone have post this stuff every time a thread is started about another team? It is a stale comment.

It's primarily texasag7, I believe he has a mental disability from what I can tell. I've tried not to associate him with the rest of the Aggies, and I have found Ags are much more pleasant lol. Go Ags in basketball!

No worries - they got that 175 pound LB that Florida State backed off of. SEC ready.

Oh, and they also signed that LB that wants to play WR.

And the DT transfer that couldn't get qualified at Ole Miss.

Congrats to the rest of you for beating out Hendrix and Louisiana-directional schools to win your state recruiting battle. Not A&M's fault you live in vacant states.

Yeah, I'm full of it. Weren't you the guy who said A&M would beat out Texas and Stanford in recruiting as well? (As if there is much of difference in classes between 10-20).

Congrats on out recruiting OU though because of your membership in the SEC.
