I don't think he's saying Adams couldn't cover Howard 1 on 1 (he could, and probably would do it well), his point is Adams will be busy doing other things. He won't be afforded the luxury of just chasing OJ around the field the whole game like he was able to do with Engram against Ole Miss. He will be forced to participate in stopping the run.

That's exactly what he'll be doing on passing downs if you've watched LSU at all he's been doing it all year. Yes he will be asked to support the run but all safeties do both. We Arnt re inventing the wheel here.

It's refreshing reading this thread. Easily the best and most informative I've seen in some time

Fair enough he's physical however nothing I've seen makes me think jackson or tolliver for that matter can't handle him he's kinda been the guy who makes big plays when ppl are overplaying OJ and Ridley which can happen we jumped a pick play to Ingram early vs ole miss and gave up an easy td pass. I'm comparing their skill set one on one.

Ok - the point was every down is a passing down for Ole Miss. His job the entire game was chasing Engram (who splits out most plays like a slot WR anyway) around.

We almost never have "passing downs" and when we do we run QB sweeps and screens as much as we do drop back and just throw. And, on top of that, OJ lines up with his hand in the ground or tight to the LOS much more often than Engram. He is as valuable as a run blocker as he is a pass catcher.

Honestly, if Howard takes Adams out of the game because he chases him around, I'm completely fine with that trade off.

The team that can run the damn bawl will win. Just don't think either QB can takeover the game. Advantage Bama the D is built to stop what LSU does best.

No, he generally makes catches in 1 on 1 situations.

As far as the other matchup let's go
Chark < fitspatrick minka is one of the best and if he's playing corner he's got the advantage here

Dupre > Humphrey dupre has turned the corner since the change and is one of the top 3 wrs in his class huge catch radius and downfield speed

Smith/ jeter = hootie/Harrison smith is a little known pass catcher with huge upside he's basically a giant wr who's a big play guy jeter is a slow blocking style te with a+ hands and catches your 5-8 yard passes vs zone coverage. Here is the tricky one we don't know who will be at safety for bama but knowing Saban from watching him here and at bama when he loses a guy like Jackson the d suffers esp pass d the communication and checks mostly and in tiger stadium it will be impossible to be as smooth with it as before. The TEs and backs will benefit from this problem. I witnessed this first hand in 03 when we lost our captain Fs and Florida handed us our only defeat at home. Bama loves to show one look and switch it on you before the snap it will he hard to do this without Jackson unless you move minka to safety in which case you lose your best corner.

Ok well just have to drop this because you refuse to believe that safeties can play both run and pass. He's the best safety in the country that isn't injured right now he will cover Howard I played safety you can do both it happens every game.

Jackson is an all conf caliber corner not first team this year but he's just below white the Florida guys minka and ole boy from tenn. Stewart isn't he's good but jackson can handle him. Of course we will see bit I think you're overrating him if we go to production Jackson is having the better season.

If he doesn't split out the way Ingram did adams won't be chasing him all over the field.

What? If you mean you have to be able to pass as well to beat Bama then OK....I wouldn't say our pass defense is a weakness whatsoever....where we have been challenged is with guys who can move and have an arm like Watson and Kelly.

LSU doesn't have that guy and your OL won't hold up

It's impossible for 14&Counting to have a reasonable discussion on football

I'm in no way saying bamas weapons Arnt great because they are. You're not giving LSUs secondary the credit it deserves. Ole miss lit bama up and LSU shut them out in the second half we have the best secondary in the country.

What the hell are you talking about?

I have been perfectly reasonable and civil. Because I don't think your OL can hold up that makes me a troll.

Well if you believe that you can't ignore or makeup scenarios that Arnt there just to make it seem like they don't have an advantage in this area. Bama has the advantage at the line of scrimmage when LSU has the ball I think it's closer when bamas on offense, At the beginning of the season I thought this would he bamas worst olines I awhile but as the seasons progressed Thebes looked much better. Maybe the change in the offense took some time to get used to. Bama is the favorite no question I just think LSU is the most talented opponent they've played this year. Lsu was pre season no5 and are finally playing like it still if the oline is dominated the way they were last year they can't win.

Looking at MyTeamsBetterstats comparison of 95 different STATs:

Bama (against FBS #2 SoS) leads in 72 categories to LSU's 19 (against FBS #52 SoS) with 4 categories offset.

Among the 35 "key stats" listed Bama led 24 categories to LSU's 11; however, there truly isn't much separation ouside of scoring margin (in favor of Bama against statistically better SOS).

Looking at common opponents (which in this case is common opponent), the scoring margin mentioned above obviously flips back to LSUs favor and so does total D. Of the 35 key stats listed, it's still pretty close overall with lsu winning 18 to Bamas 14 with 3 offset.

Overall: site gives Bama a 65.24% chance to win.

Would post the screenshots, but it's not working on phone.

Cool site for stats comparison if you've never been.

I'm as excited for this game as I have been since 2011.

It's going to be another down to the wire classic. 31-24 Bama!!!
