I think LSU's offense is completely over matched and I don't think they drive the field at all. If they score it will be off a short field. I expect Bama's offense to have some limited success. Almost all of the stats favor Bama and I think Bama is about 20 points better than LSU. I am expecting about a 24-3 game. With one td being a NOT. Meaning Hurts and the offense won't do a whole lot, but they probably won't have to.

Interesting thought. Outside of the shutout (Lol Les), the last game to only have 3 points scored by a team was 2003.

OK man....just hope you guys don't get a chance to sing it on Saturday

I haven't had the chance to sing it since I was a sophomore in college, but I can tell you in 2014 when we had the lead, the band was absolutely ready to play it had we come up with the final stop... As profane as it is, it gets the place going like no song I have heard from a band before.

This is a damn good thread!

This game will be won in the trenches - it will be very physical and I'm expecting a close, low scoring game.

Well, thats enough X's and O's Bama-LSU talk for one day. I won't be able to get anything done the rest of the week if I keep thinking about this game.

Until next time.... Keep these threads up TD, you have slowly become my favorite Bama poster.

Exactly how I feel. Think Bama edges the Tigers by 2 FGs. It will be a great atmosphere though and I can't wait.

I haven't tuned into any full Bama games this year. So what happened to Bo Scarbrough? Has he been dealing with injuries? Was he not what everyone expected him to be or are Harris and Jacobs THAT good?

LSUs wrs > bama DBS minus Jackson
Bama pass catchers < LSU DBS especially when you throw in hurts throwing to them.
These are our best matchups in this game.

Yep, but I don't think Bama will be in dime much in this game.

Your opinion has been noted. It's interesting that you factor in Hurts throwing to the Bama WRs as a problem, but you don't do the same with Etling throwing to the LSU WRs (while facing the toughest pass rush he's seen all year), but that's cool. Everyone has opinions.

Odd way to spell Carlton Davis.

Honestly, don't really know. He is part of the offense - he plays significant minutes and averages 7-8 carries per P5 game (and has averaged 6 YPC). Saban seems happy with his play so far. My personal guess is that with our new offensive system you want guys who take the read handoff, quickly hit the whole and explode to the next level. Bo, kind of like Derek Henry until last season, takes a while to get geared up. Once he reaches the second level he is big, physical and really fast, but sometimes he isn't great at the LOS and bursting through a hole. Jacobs and Harris are both very good at it and very good at slipping the first tackle attempt while keeping balance.

Many people have said they wouldn't be surprised if Bo ends up in an H-Back role next season. I don't really know if that makes sense or not.

I am factoring etling I think you will be suprised by him I know I was. The kid can play. And I agree bama has the best pass rush I've seen in probly 20+ years (fsu with wadsworth and boldwire). But minus jackson who is one of bamas 2 best DBS it will hurt. I'm also looking at the fact ole miss and arky had great success with less talent in the wr corp against them while LSU shut ole miss down. Then we have the individual matchups
Ridley vs white a + for white (sr. Vs soph.)
Stewart vs jackson probly = maybe even jackson
And OJ vs Adams = adams completely shut down Ingram who is not as good but very close to OJ
So that gives LSU a slight edge.
Phone dying I'll give the flip side matchup in a bit

I'm sorry but no. Stewart is our most physical receiver, he's not at a disadvantage against a guy like Jackson. LSU would be better served putting Jackson on Ridley and White on Stewart. Ardarius will big boy Jackson.

I've seen Engrams name a lot this week. No one really seems to be accounting for the fact that Adams could afford to focus all of his attention on Engram because Ole Miss is not a threat to run the ball. Alabama is. If LSU wants to try to take away OJ Howard with Adams then good luck to the kid, but Adams will be needed in run support Saturday night.

Yep. The biggest difference in this game (in general) is that....

Almost everyone else has to bring a man into the box to help with LSU's run game. Every other game they play LSU has numbers advantages on TEs and WRs. Alabama not only has better athletes in the secondary than everyone else LSU plays, but Alabama doesn't bring a man down into the box the majority of the time. Therefore, not only is LSU playing better defensive players, they are playing more of them in the back end.

On the flip side, Alabama is one of the only teams that LSU is forced to cheat against the run against. Generally, LSU can stay back (like Alabama does to LSU) and allow guys like Adams to concentrate fully on the back end or in an individual matchup (like against Ole Miss with Engram). That likely won't be the case against Alabama.

Therefore, a lot of the things that happen for LSU against almost everyone else on the schedule aren't exactly the same against Alabama because of what Alabama can do against LSU in the trenches, which is generally something other teams cannot do to them there. That totally changes the rest of the game and matchups, because LSU is built (even when a bit more open) around the philosophy that they dominate the trenches. If they were spread team it wouldn't be as big a deal, because they would already play from the notion that they lose the trenches. However, their identity (and philosophy) is built off dominating the trenches.

First off Jackson has been awesome this year and he certainly can handle Stewart I watch every bama game and don't find Stewart to be all that physical I'm more impressed by his speed. Anyway jackson is over 6-1 so he's plenty big. As far as adams not paying attention to OJ of course he will. We are talking matchups in the passing game and to think nobody's gonna guard Howard is reaching. Adams is a top 2 safety nationally and will go in the first round ahead of Howard and while I don't see him shutting him down completely the way he did Ingram. Holding him to 4/5 catches and under 70 yards is very doable. I'm conceding bamas front 7 will outplay our oline and the dline is a big advantage. Your inability to give any credit says more about your perception than mine.

Stewart is probably the most physical and nasty receiver we have had in years, both blocking and making physical catches down the field.
