Money talks and we can match anyone. If we're talking top all-time programs and storied histories or the more prestigious job, yes it's USC and it's not close. But as far as salaries, recruiting ground, facilities, alumni base and program momentum, it's a wash if not advantage A&M. Call me delusional or drinking the maroon kool-aid, but I don't see Sumlin leaving for another college job.

Delusions of grandeur right there folks...

Top 5 job in Texas is more like it.
I don't think he would go to USC but it is definitely not a lateral move.

A&M is a better job than USC by every measure except historical success.

More money? A&M
Better facilities? A&M
Recruiting hotbed? A&M
Fan Interest? A&M (They can't fill their stadium at USC; people on the west coast don't care about college football.)

That was a USC fresh off sanctions maybe the time is now. Has he ever finished 2nd in the SEC? It would be an easier road at USC

USC just fired their coach because he was drinking on the job, not because they roll through coaches like Auburn.

Doesn't matter. Their program is encased in scandal while ours is completely stable right now. Right now is all that matters for momentum.

Any coach that goes there will be under a magnifying glass. Do yall really think Rumlin wants to take a job where people are taking pictures of him if he is getting a drink at a bar? Because that is what would happen as the paparazzi looks for their next kill.

The AM/USC lateral move thing is killing me. fricking hilarious. Truly delusional.

I think all of us could name at least 10 programs that would be considered an ascending move from AM. Probably 15.

shite, just in the SEC, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU are all easily better jobs.

I'd love to know what is causing the problem with the success since it is apparently objectively better than USC. Where are aggy's 7 consecutive conference titles?

Also this is like the fifth time someone has said this in the thread

He's not going to leave...but USC is clearly better. Good stuff

Its funny watching the corn dogs trip over their dicks in here based on one comment.

What is the incentive to leave?

Money- No
Recruiting- No
Facilities- Not even close
Support- lol
Schedule- Slight yes, but you still have UCLA, Oregon, Utah, ASU, UA, Stanford, etc.
Location- Depends on the person, but Sumlin doesn't strike as the LA type.

Sumlin has finally recruited his team, and managed to hire the best DC in the game last year. Not much of a reason out there to go a start all over again.

Except we are overpaying Sumlin BECAUSE of last time, which would require them to overpay Sumlin too.

Do yall really think Sumlin is worth Nick Saban money? Because that is what it would take.

Hell yall make fun of us for paying Sumlin $5 million a year, but then yall think it is a great idea for a USC to pay Sumlin the $6+ million a year it would take to get him.

Craziness.

Once again, why would USC want a piece of shite coach like Sumlin anyway?

Even with all the sanctions and shite that USC has gone through, they still have arguably the best roster in college football..........

In every phase, USC is better and there's no debating that..........however, Sumlin is not leaving.....not yet anyways!

Sumlin doesn't have the name or the proven record (conf. championships or national championship) to justify USC challenging aTm at the salary level to go after him.......neither does Gary Patterson, but I think Patterson's style fits USC better than Sumlin's does..........

besides, I think USC will be looking for a defensive guy (Patterson) and not an offensive guy (Sumlin).....

Interesting that you didn't debate any of what I wrote. As for our past success, it's not always been the case that we had more moment and better facilities and more fan interest than USC. We use to have play at LSU every year because we were so small.

This isn't hard to understand, aggy. Most people in this thread don't think USC is targeting him. Everyone thinks it is hilarious that you guys think it would be a lateral move.

That was in a completely different era for college football and USC. Whoever takes that job has to compete with the PAC for talent and the NFL for LA's attention. It is a big job.
