USC is a lateral move at this point. Don't see him going anywhere any time soon. He hasn't won anything yet, still has a lot to prove

USC is a top 5 job IMO. Texas A&M is somewhere in the top 10-15.
I think that is fair, but it ignores context. When there is so much parity in college football the distance between a top 5 job and a top 15 job isn't what it was in say 1990. Especially when the top 15 job has been proven to overpay, that kinda changes the equation.

Sumlin is already at a top 5 job. He's not going anywhere
Texas, USC, Notre Dame, Florida.
So no.

The only direction Sumlin is going at this point is down unless he starts improving
Spellbinding analysis here. He's only going to get worse unless he gets better. Don't quit your day job

Money talks and we can match anyone. If we're talking top all-time programs and storied histories or the more prestigious job, yes it's USC and it's not close. But as far as salaries, recruiting ground, facilities, alumni base and program momentum, it's a wash if not advantage A&M. Call me delusional or drinking the maroon kool-aid, but I don't see Sumlin leaving for another college job.
I can agree with this, but the dynamics change if Strong can turn Texas around. WRTS would long be an afterthought and I think that's the day Sumlin makes his move.
Now call me crazy but I think Morris is a better coach, so I think it's a win-win for A&M anyways.

Why would USC hire the worst coach in football history?
They keep hiring bad coaches, why would they stop now?

I don't see him leaving either; but you can't be serious about the statement above???
I mean, you just can't be serious!!!

USC is ripe for a rebuild as more time passes from the sanctions. Someone is going to show up and have a helluva opportunity.

We already outbid them for Sumlin once
Our facilities are easily better, don't see how you can argue that
California and TX are roughly equal
USC really hasn't been better than us the last few years
I don't see what's wrong with his statement

Honestly, if this happened I wouldn't melt much. Morris with his Texas connections and how much he is loved in the HS ranks would kill it in recruiting here.
That being said, if we lost Sumlin (we won't) my first call would be to Tom Herman.

This +100000000000000
The opportunity to bring USC back to national prominence and even win a championship........man seriously, that's a wet dream for any coach.........

LOL at USC is a lateral move!!!!!!!!!!
You guys truly are delusional. WOW.
USC has crazy amount of talent and appeal.. and it's still USC.. He could legit compete for championships in the PAC and getting to playoffs rather than staying in the tougher SEC west..

I touched on it, but didn't go into detail when I said you rarely see people make that move nowadays. It's really tough to pull someone away from a top 15 job, unless they're having issues with the fanbase/administration (Sumlin isn't), they'll get an incredible increase in pay (Sumlin won't), or it's a dream school for the coach (don't believe USC is for Sumlin). That's not to say that it isn't still a possibility. USC has an absolutely loaded roster and a much easier schedule, and he will really only have to compete with 4-5 schools for recruits instead of 10 like he has to do now. I just think it would be a really smart move for USC, and it wouldn't be a bad move for Sumlin by any means. Just thought it was an interesting topic to talk about.
