It wouldn't surprise me if he had no interest in Miami. Penn State though? You know he wanted that job and probably would have taken it if offered.

The team with what was largely expected to be a pending death penalty at the time? Yeahhh no.

I have no doubt that he covets Penn St -- but not in the circumstance they hired Bill O'Brien in. That would have been just as stupid as Kiffin taking the USC job.

Unless Foley leaves, Mullen won't be offered so it doesn't matter.

So how long before you run Freeze out of town for not winning one? Or do you allege that he's proven something Mullen hasn't?(In spite of being paid just as much if not more currently and also in line for a raise)...

No one is saying anything about running anyone out of town.

Just don't brag about paying more for less.

Given the circumstances that Franklin was hired under though, Penn State was in pretty good shape. I just don't think that he was offered the job personally because if he was, I think he would have taken it.

Forgot about this. That sounds about right.

i'm not going to read all of this stuff but do want to speak up. I was wrong about Mullen in the past and dissed him regularly because he couldn't beat ranked teams. I now see it built his team the right way; slow and consistent. I think he's done so much for MSU and I personally hope he stays there a long time, esp if his family really likes the area. money should be secondary imo. esp since the money is so damn good anyway.

He acted like a prick to the school that offered less $$ than he was making at MSU -- which was also under an extensive NCAA probe and was likely facing a prolonged issue there? The hell you say...

They didn't covet Mullen at that point.

They were interested the first time. Not after the 7-6 in 2013. It still wasn't a given that they'd have the bowl ban lifted when they hired Franklin though. That came after. Given what we've seen at Vandy this year vs what we've seen at MSU -- it's quite clear why Franklin got out last year vs why Mullen isn't in any hurry to leave.

The part of all this that no one is wanting to look at or talk about is this "graduating class" everyone is blowing for MSU right now and talking about how things are going to fall apart next year is arguably the worst one he has recruited overall in his time at MSU...

If Dak leaves, y'all are in trouble though and I think you know that. You take him off the team you have right now and you have at least 2 losses.

Sounds like the Ole Miss search when Nutt left. I guess that's how y'all ended up with Mike Leach.

Ole Miss is really good and we're probably gonna beat MSU in Oxford and knock them out of the playoff.. No one is talking about it but it's going to happen.. Only question is whether we beat AU in order to make it to ATL for the first time ever or go 6-2 and miss out to a Bama team we beat in our stadium.

If your mom was a man...

Dak is going nowhere. He's not getting a first round grade. We've never had a player leave early for less.

So, are you in "trouble" next year without Bo? Remember last offseason when we were in trouble at QB anyway? When all the talk about Dak was "just MSU bullshite because he torched Rice"?

At some point, you have to just admit that Mullen creates great dual threat QBs. He went awhile before "his guy" was ready at MSU -- but he's got him now and there's more developing in the pipeline for us. The QB situation has literally never been better at MSU...

You can say this about practically every great team in the country. What is FSU without Winston? A borderline top 25 team just like MSU would be without Dak.

So you're saying that MSU will be willing to pay Mullen $5.25M, equal to Stoops.

I'm not saying Mullen can't develop quarterbacks. Quite the opposite actually, I've said several times on this board that if Dak had gone to any other school he wouldn't have been near as successful as he has been at State. Perfect coach and system for him.

And we may be in trouble without Bo next year but whoever our next quarterback is won't have very much stress on him. He's being handed the keys to a Porsche with all of his key skill players coming back (minus Sanders) and an even better offensive line than this year with more depth.
I do agree that Dak isn't leaving early unless he wins the Heisman and a national title.

Agree and disagree. I think FSU without Winston would have lost to Notre Dame but they did beat a pretty damn good Clemson team without him so they're likely in the top 10 without him just because of the amount of talent they have. State would be around 15-20 without Dak. Your defense is good enough and you have Robinson to keep you there.

He's so gone if I were States AD I'd go ahead and preemptively fire him just so I could get a jump on next year.

How much trouble? Like winning nine games with a Chris Relf type QB? You think he can't develop Elijah Staley or Fitzgerald? two QB's he actually recruited. Have you seen the offense the Chason Virgil is already running in High school?

Freeze is probably in trouble after Bo leaves. had to bring a QB along with him.

Freeze has two quarterbacks he has recruited and redshirted on the team. We will be fine. He had to bring Bo in when he first got here or else we would have been starting Brunnetti at quarterback
