Spurrier says what he thinks. He is one of the people whose negative opinions of LSU I respect, unlike the dumbfrick gumps on here who argue in one breath that Fournette sucks, then argue in the next breath that he has wasted his talent not playing for Bama.

After the 2011 sec championship les miles should have known he can't do the same thing twice and beat bama again. Should have started mettenberger day 1 of bowl practice and he might have had a chance to win on 1/9

I'm starting to wonder if it's a cultural thing that extends beyond the HC. Has LSU ever had a truly potent offense?

2001 Davey - 3791 pass yards 21 TDs 10 ints, LSU 4022 pass yards 21 TDs 12 ints
2003 Mauck - 2825 pass yards 28 TDs 14 ints, LSU 3257 pass yards 30 TDs 15 ints
2005 Russell- 2443 pass yards 15 TDs 9 ints, LSU 2920 pass yards 22 TDs 10 ints
2006 Russell - 3129 pass yards 28 TDs 8 ints, LSU 3272 pass yards 30 TDs 9 ints
2007 Flynn - 2401 pass yards 21 TDs 11 ints, LSU 3154 pass yards 29 pass TDs 13 ints

2004 was a transition year, but it was still better than the crap LSU produces yearly

2004 Randall/Russell - 2320 pass yards 18 TDs 10 ints, LSU 2421 pass yards 19 TDs 10 ints

Minus the poor 2002 season, from 2001 to 2007, LSU didn't throw for less than 2400 pass yards or 19 pass TDs in any other year. Throwing out the highest (2001 - 4022 yards), and lowest (2002- 1990 yards), LSU's average passing was 3004.8 yards. Again, throwing out the highest (03' or 06' - 30 TDs), and lowest (2002 - 16 TDs), LSU's TD pass average was 24.2 TDs.

So you are looking at 3000 pass yards and 24 pass TDs on average in that 01'-07' span. Is that elite, maybe not, but it is definitely above average. LSU would be a beast with that kind of passing acumen this year and the last couple of years.

Those Russel led teams were pretty impressive offensively.

As a Gamecock fan, what I take away from this article is more confirmation that Spurrier was not getting it done recruiting....."rockin' the old flip phone"?

These recruits today expect coaches to be texting them constantly, following them on Twitter, etc. Spurrier was obviously doing none of that....just technologically illiterate. It used to drive me crazy when Spurrier would go on a rant in his press conference about a sports writer writing negative columns in Columbia's local paper......Spurrier thought everyone still read the newspaper. Myself, along with 80% of the rest of the fans had no clue about the articles until Spurrier brought it up, I hadn't subscribed to the newspaper in 10 years.
