I tend to agree. Many want to say Georgia has a better recruiting base, but recruiting has gone national BIG time everybody comes int each others states. Other than Georgia having alot of talent out of High school....South carolina has easy access to Georgia, Florida...even Spurrier should be able to draw out of Florida big time.

Kids grow-up fans of what they are familiar with, much like how Buffalo Bill picked his first victim. You covet what you see. The state of Florida has UF, FSU, Miami ... and then UGA recruiting the north and Bama and Auburn in the panhandle. SCAR pulls a few out of there, but Spurrier definitely likes recruiting instate first, then GA and NC then we go elsewhere when appropriate.

Many of our greatest players have come out of GA for years including both HOFers which we use as a recruiting tool when we go into GA.

what?

he went 9-7 in '05 and 6-10 in '06

you can do the math

Going from 4-12 to 9-7 is success.
I said nothing about his second year.

Well, that's not gonna be a popular opinion on this board.

I thought you guys were pointing out the lack of tradition Georgia has? The granny pick and all.

Talent bases mean nothing in todays game. Everybody loses talent to out of state schools these days...unless you win a bunch of Nattys.

yea...you have to deal with FSU and Miami poaching all the same players

LSU is the 2nd best job in the country behind Bama. Solely based on the recruiting monopoly of LA. Bama only because of tradition.

idk how much you follow the NFL, or listen to it's players, but making the playoffs is the first thing you have to do to be considered 'successful'

I don't agree with it either, but we're certainly top 5. Athlon also had us at #2 in their latest list of jobs.

Still won the division with Mike Vick as his QB. Kelly isn't leaving Philly for a while, best look elsewhere (or at least get Foley's head examined for hiring Muschamp in the first place)

Not when you went 4-12 the previous year.

Not anymore they don't. Georgia has a VERY fluid population base. TONS of people from the North moving in here. Our kids have no allegiances....with ESPN and all the cable networks carrying football from all over the country, kids are now growing up fans of the flavor of the month.

I'm not sure how anyone thinks Texas is the best coaching job. The pressure of Texas combined with in-state rivalries in recruiting, and virtually every D1 school in the country poaching Texas HS talent...

Miami is kind of a non factor in recruiting in the state of florida. No 5* star kid is going there if he has offers from UF and FSU.

Maybe FSU, but Miami has crap facilities and a dumpy stadium 45 minutes away from campus. We still take their recruits even after going 4-8.

I've noticed this. The state has enough talent that pretty much every major program in the South seems to be able to pick up a handful (if not more) of legit talent from the state.

I'm sure it doesn't help that Atlanta is such an all around SEC hub.
