I'm not advocating Spurrier is better than Saban. However could he do what Spurrier did at South Carolina or Duke? Honest question, not saying he couldn't.

No. Saban told Mal Moore that he could not win without players. And the process would not be as effective especially at a Duke. Spurrier's innovative "sandlot" offense could win some games because no one schemed for that.
