I never took the OBC for a quitter, but I guess going out 0-4 in SEC play tells us otherwise. Disappointing.

Spurrier has won more college games as a player and coach than most people in their wildest fantasies.

Shut the Frick Up.
he's actually doing it the right way. Why hang around for 6 more games when everyone knows it's time and it's going to happen.
I have more respect for him walking out there and saying Im not the guy anymore than hanging around for nothing.

frick off. He's a legend and can go out riding a unicorn and wearing a thong and flip flops if he wants to. He's earned the right.

Internet message board poster Sweets has called Spurrier a loser. I hope he's able to sleep at night.

He quit on his team. He left them out to dry in the middle of the season. He let a lot of young men down.

Nothing right about quitting on your team. A real man sticks it out with his boys.

He's the undisputed second greatest coach in the history of the SEC behind Bear Bryant, won a Heisman as a QB at Florida, and took a perennial joke in South Carolina to consistent top 10 rankings.
He can quit whenever and wherever he wants and get nothing but the utmost respect from anyone (myself as a UGA fan included).

I guess he should have gone the Bobby Bowden route for you to call him successful.

The only loser here is the OP. Bowden hung on and hung on and hung on because it was all about him and not the good of the program. You may disagree with him, but it doesn't make him a loser.

He very well could have had a short leash and was forced out. He gets to say he retires to save face. Honestly I wouldn't read into this.

You know who's a loser?
Random anonymous guy on Internet taking shots at a coach who has done far more with his life than the vast majority of Americans.

I'll bet you have let a lot of people down too.
