Bama ... Ran a string as 5 of 6 years as least penalized team in the SEC.

5 of 6. Statistically, highly unlikely.

Coincidence ?

Check out Alabama's penalty ranking under the Shula years.

You do realize that good coaching and good talent usually produce less penalties right?

Remember when Webster(LSU) pulled down a bama receiver in the end zone and intercepted the pass. The play stood and it was a horrible call...about 10 years ago. LSU won comfortably, but if Bama scores there it may or may not have turned out different. If you are "reality" , you have seen many examples of this. Please!!!

You're completely correct. That year LSU still had a much better team than Bama and if the call is made correct, it obviously helps Bama a ton and gives them a much better chance, but let's face it, they still probably lose.

Homer fans only remember calls that go against them, not the calls that went for them.

Also they convince themselves the calls that went against them 100% cost them the game, when usually they were probably just a small piece of the puzzle.

Been waiting on this.... lol.

By -definition- it means refs aren't perfect and/or are cheating. (to humor some on this board convinced in conspiracy).

If calls aren't perfect on EITHER side, then it's impossible to quantify those variables as to how it affects the game.

Both teams are being reffed by the same crew... Both suffer from it during game. Every game. Every year. All year.

But by all means, keep your minds on a single penalty or two that stand out and don't concern yourself with what the team needs to ramp up their performance.

You'd have to be delusional to ever believe that the best team always wins.

5 of 6 years ... least penalized team in the entire SEC.

Go ahead and run the statistical probability of that.

Is it really a secret that Saban is a hard-arse for discipline and minimizing turnovers/penalties on the field? He's famous for it.

The Discipline of Saban's teams is obvious when one compares them to a team like Georgia. Time and time again Georgia players get penalized for needless late hits out-of-bounds but I don't see Bama players making the same mistakes.

Still, compared to every other team, Alabama does get favorable treatment from SEC officials.

Claim it if you wish and see where that gets you. In the 9-6 game, Bama went on to prove they were the best team. What has LSU proven in the aftermath of the LSU/Bama showdown this year? LSU fricking fell apart and let Bert get his first SEC victory in a shutout.

It also helps that seeing Haley's comet is more common that a holding penalty against run-happy Alabama.

It is a travesty that Steve Shaw is in the position he is in.

While you're at it, how about giving us the statistical probability of having the top recruiting class in the country 5 or 6 years in a row. I mean, after all, wouldn't "statistical probability" mean that eventually Vandy would have the top class?

If we were one of the best SEC teams each of those years, why is it statistically highly unlikely? Usually the better team has fewer penalties.
