Andy Kennedy's diamonds are more competitive in the SEC

Mullen's diamonds have been to the NY6. Kennedy's haven't touched the Elite 8.

Howland will be coaching elsewhere by the 2018 season. You're delirious if you really think he plans on retiring in Starkville, Mississippi. Seeing as how his name was tarnished after his exit out of Los Angeles, he knew he needed a low profile opportunity to once again re establish his brand as big time college basketball commodity. Turn a dumpster fire into a respectable program and bounce to the ACC once Pitino or Boheim hang it up. A classic redemption story as old as time

Anyone with a functioning brain knows he's viewing Mississippi State as a stepping stone

Just wondering how competitive is your coachs pay? I'm not going to say he wants out of Starkville but $$ can make a difference and pulling the #7 recuriting class is impressive. Im not saying his leaving just wondering what you think on that. As I said I don't know BB.

The guy is almost 60. I don't think anyone is going to hire a 63 year old coach for 2-3 years and then want to find a new coach all over again. This isn't a young up-and-comer. He'll make his $2-3 million a year for 6-7 more years, win a bunch of games against the terrible SEC, make us a top 3-4 SEC program, and call it a day.

Howland already makes more than Kennedy.

LINK /

He's not on there for some reason but he would be sitting at #24.

He's 58 compared to Pitino at 64, Boheim at 71, or even Roy Williams at 65. If he starts winning big, with his track record and proven resumè, bigger programs will come calling. I think he's a great coach, man - it's just the move to Starkville was so unorthodox that I think he has some underlying motives to get back to a major program.

BH is 59 in May. Pitino is 63. So 4 year difference. A school isn't going to hire a coach that the know only has 3-4 years left. Find another coach who switched jobs at the age of 62 w/o getting fired.

I just don't see a coach leaving a job that is stress-free, can make as much as he wants, can recruit and win big. He's been at a big time program and knows that he can get fired in the same year you can win your conference.

He was basically run off due to lack of institutional control. Hazing and drug issues were prevalent, culminate that with the fact that he had pretty much burned every bridge he had on the West Coast high school/AAU circuit. His name was complete dirt out there.

Yep. Settles that. Howland sucks. No one wants him. Stuck at State.

Lol.

You realize that basically means shite program with no expectations of winning, right? Did you see stans the last two years at msu? Wouldn't say "stess free" is a very good description.

Compared to UCLA/Louisville/UNC/Cuse, yes, State is stress-free.

How about compared to a school whose fan base claims to have a strong basketball history but has struggled as of late? That can be pretty damned stressful.

Did you already forget that you guys turned a "high character" head coach into someone that cussed out opposing players?

You're completely ignoring the question of who is going to hire him. He makes enough money that only about 15-20 programs are legitimate contenders. He's old enough that at least 10-15 of those aren't interested.

Howland is a great coach but honestly he's too old for UNC, Cuse, Kansas, Texas, or any other top 10-15 basketball school to come after him. His track record has proven everywhere he's been that it takes him until year 3 to put an exceptional team on the floor. He's 59, even if you hire him at 60 you're looking at 63 before you see a return on the hire.

That's because I'm not referencing that question whatsoever. Good job on recognizing that.

Go back and re-read things.

We didn't turn Ray into a Henderson-hater. Henderson did that all by himself.

But anyone will agree State is stress-free compared to UCLA/Louisville/UNC/Cuse, which are the only type of schools that could hire him away. Stress-free compared to yall? No, because yalls program has historically been trash.

2018? Damn man..Howland won't be going anywhere until he gives us at least two good runs, and that will take at least 3 to 4 years to achieve. But get ready to get your teeth kicked in on the hardwood against us in the future. We're about to accumulate some real basketball players.
