Where did they all go ?

Well, start the search on your own board. That's where a lot of Steele haters were about 2 months ago.

Also, let's not act like he's ever had anything in his past to indicate that this level of defensive production was to be expected. He's certainly defied expectations (including those of many AU fans) as well as his own history thus far.

It was an exaggeration. A joke, which you've succeeded in overanalyzing all the humor out of.

Right here.

Steele is horrible. You'll see. LSU loved him, at first... and we laughed. Once the scab is peeled back... whew - it gets ugly and stays ugly.

Be smug now if you wish, Puppet, but he is really bad.

You're a dumbass

I don't hate the man, but you will never convince me he is a good DC. I think he is a good position coach, but not a DC. He walked into a talented Auburn defense. Auburn is playing well on defense despite Steele, not because of him. He has not had success as a DC anywhere he has been long term. There is a reason Saban removed him after one season and promoted Kirby. Very nice man and I wish him well, but if he is still the DC at Auburn two years from now, Auburn fans will be calling for him to be fired.

Glad he's doing well. I think everyone benefitted from that move.

Make no mistake though, he wasn't great at LSU last year... Not awful, but certainly not good.

You're entitled to your opinion. A term you're probably familiar with.

However, denial won't change the simple truth that Steele has been exposed at every school he's ever coached.

A few weeks ago, you morons were clamoring for a head coaching change. You're as a fickle as a teenage school girl with her 3rd crush of the week.

The reaction to his hire was similar to Kiffins at Bama.

so why did Steele's defense last year suck so bad at LSU if they've been good the last 15 years?

Only by surface level fans. Fans that know play calling were keenly aware of his potential.

My wife, who knows a great deal of college football, but not a lot about x and o's was incredulous about the hire. It took a lot of explaining why he was a better OC hire than an HC hire.

Steele may one day turn out to be a great HC, but he is not a great DC. He is average at best and average coaches don't win championships in the SEC

Steele ran our defense into the ground with his confusing scheme. Aranda cleaned up the mess and turned us back into an LSU defense.

which kind of begs the question why LSU took such a huge step back in 2015 with Steele. LSU had a great defense in 2014. 3rd in the nation in scoring defense and 8th in total defense. I'm thinking this year is more an outlier for Kevin Steele than anything. Auburn has some good talent and he's doing a good job. I just don't think 8 games into one season completely changes Steele's worth as a coach. Going to need to see him sustain a good defense for longer.

Didn't AU put 41 on them that year?
