Lulzzzzzzzz. Aranda took over a D that has been good the last 15 years. Steele took over one that has been dog shite the last 10

I said on here countless times that he wasn't remotely as bad as people made him out to be. LSU was rebuilding last season and had to adjust to a new scheme.

Still, you do realize he did the exact same thing at Clemson, right? He did a phenomenal job there his first season and tanked after.

He's good enough, but there's no chance in hell he maintains a defense of that caliber there

Steele probably wasn't thrilled about being passed over by a guy 20 years younger than him.

Why would LSU and Bama fans care why AU loses ?

The point was that no one is harder on Auburn than Auburn fans.

Sorry if that wasn't clear...

I agree that steele has probably been the most impactful off season hiring. I didn't see it coming. But I've always thought poorly of Steele because of how terrible he was as a head coach at Baylor. Hell of a DC though.

Why ? They have a lot of youth on that side of the ball.

Still waiting on Steele to have his Clemson moment and give up 70 like in the Orange Bowl that year. The Iron Bowl would be an excellent opportunity for that to happen

Nobody blamed him for the Clemson and A&M loses.

I don't hate the guy but I expected him to fail.

For the first time in his career he has exceeded expectations.

Why? They are young and finally have some depth. They are finally playing fundamentally sound defense and now they have confidence and are playing with intensity. I don't see why Steele can't maintain what he's got with them bringing in top 10 classes every year.

Steele Haters

I don't hate the man, but you will never convince me he is a good DC. I think he is a good position coach, but not a DC. He walked into a talented Auburn defense. Auburn is playing well on defense despite Steele, not because of him. He has not had success as a DC anywhere he has been long term. There is a reason Saban removed him after one season and promoted Kirby. Very nice man and I wish him well, but if he is still the DC at Auburn two years from now, Auburn fans will be calling for him to be fired.

Right here.

Steele is horrible. You'll see. LSU loved him, at first... and we laughed. Once the scab is peeled back... whew - it gets ugly and stays ugly.

Be smug now if you wish, Puppet, but he is really bad.

Disagee, Muschamp had them going in the right direction, but Steele has made personnel changes that Muschamp would never had made. The LBs and the secondary are much more aggressive, and he has established young players at key positions. Two years ago, this D forced a punt on less than 19% of the other teams possessions. Not much better last year.
