aGAIN frickass you're not answering the question. How did those recruiting classes rank AS RECRUITING CLASSES against the rest of the SEC? It's not that fricking hard of a question. I'm not asking about your miraculous 4-4 season this past year.

Teams peak and they slump, but over time they set a general trend.

Over the past ten years, the teams in the SEC which have put together the most consistently highly ranked recruiting classes are Alabama, Florida, LSU and Auburn. And, guess what, they're all BCS title winners.

Over the same time-span, the teams which have put together the most consistenly lowly ranked recruiting classes are Kentucky, State, and Vanderbilt. Guess what, y'all haven't been great over the past 10 years, with Kentucky being consistenly average at best.

Great. You finished 5th in the SEC this year. In 2008 and 2009, Ole Miss was about 4th in the conference. Ole Miss didn't have a crootin' class that was ranked about 4th in the conference (the 2006 class was on up there though; too lazy to look right now), just as Ole Miss didn't have a class ranked 12th to correspond to this past season. Strikes and gutters, bro. Strikes and gutters.

Everyone regresses to the mean. You can't change this shite overnight. What, do you think Texas is now one of the worst programs in the Big Twelve? USC in the Pac Ten? Pull your head out of your fat a-hole. It takes years upon years of incremental changes for such paradigm shifts to take place. Look at the gradual declines of Michigan and Notre Dame and rises of Florida, Miami, and Virginia Tech for examples of this taking place in real life.

Note: To preemptively combat your red herring straw man, I'm not saying that Ole Miss is some sort of worldbeater. I'm just saying that there are long-term trends at play here. Y'all are taking a 4-4 season and using it as some sort of evidence that State's going to become a worldbeating powerhouse which, trust me, is dumb and lacking any sort of real logical base or historical precedent.

This argument is made every year by schools which don't recruit as well as the powerhouses. I used to use it to justify Ole Miss' performance but SEVERAL studies have shown that there is a correlation with teams who have highly ranked classes and those who compete for BCS titles. If you look at the past several teams who have been in the BCSNCG, you'll see lots of teams who have put together consistenly highly ranked classes. Auburn, Oregon, Texas, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma... they ALWAYS have highly ranked classes. This is NOT a coincidence.

You pointing out specific, anectodal examples as evidence against this is illogical. There are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule. That doesn't disprove the rule though.
