After watching that Prothro's was better than I remembered. Impressive he was able to hold on while basically being dragged at full speed.

No harm. It was better than I remembered too. It was ten damn years ago.

But still vs top 25 rival will have this play remembered longer than vs Southern Miss.

I'll grant you that. It was a more meaningful matchup, but the circumstances don't dictate the athleticism of either play. Both were made with a DB making similar plays on the ball and both were for big gainers.

Both were fricking amazing.

Prothro's has a slightly higher degree of difficulty

I'm gonna disagree. I think the Stanford player had to have more focus. Prothro was down in a split second and in that split second all he had to do was focus on not dropping the ball. The Stanford play was a jump ball which means he had to focus on the ball in the air longer with a guy in between him and the ball, and it took longer for him to go down which means he had to hold on longer and he had an arm in his face taking away from his focus on the ball.

The plays were both very difficult in different ways IMO

Very true. I wonder if Stanford has a Daniel Moore of their own to immortalize this in painting form in malls all around California

I'll say that the Prothro catch probably required a bit more athleticism (controlling the ball through that flip at a full sprint was astonishing) and the Stanford catch probably required a bit more focus.

Or at least a spy on the other team's sideline to catch video for social media.

I'd say that Stanford WR was taller and bigger than that DB, while Prothro was smaller than that DB.

Both great catches but Prothros was more difficult. The ball was going away from the catching motion in Tyrone vs the Stanford guy who the ball was coming to him. Still no need to compare, both were fun to watch.

Really?

Because we're still talking about Prothro's catch.

Prothro's was FIRST - that will mean all the comparisons of similar events will come back to his catch, not this one.

That's true. It's likely that, once the Stanford game is long in the books that Prothro's catch will be the comparison when the Stanford catch is talked about.

Stanford may have simply ensured that Prothro's catch will live on.
