Well level of completion has almost nothing to do with which is a better catch.

Prothro's was on the run and over the shoulder.

This is true. Prothro wasn't staring the ball down.

How? Same catch vs weaker competition and the Stanfors player was being interfered with
Prothro was in a full sprint and had to control the ball through a full speed flip. It was better. I'm not trying to sound like "that guy" though. They were both amazing.

You implied that you thought it was better by rolling your eyes at his comment.

Prothro's was better due to it being over the shoulder and going away from him, but the fact that the Stanford receiver was interfered with to the point that he wasn't even looking at the ball makes it close.

Right, athletically the same, but the circumstances are what sets the Stanford catch over Prothro.

Stanford player caught the pass for a TD, against a better DB, in rivalry game, with the DBs are sticking straight up in his face.

There is no argument you can make for Prothro's catching being better, you can just argue that it's equal.

I'm not diminishing Prothro's catch, it was an all time great. This just took it a step further is all. No need for you to get all offended and upset.

Not only that, but I'm pretty sure the Prothro catch was for a touchdown.

The catch -- a purely athletic move -- is what's being argued here, not the circumstances.

If you watch the two gifs, there actually is.

Which catch is better has nothing to do with circumstances.

Prothro's has a slightly higher degree of difficulty

No, I implied that someone was trolling when I rolled my eyes.

Arguments can be made for either. I'm not about to try to diminish either play.

They're both amazing in their own ways. Very similar, but still apples to oranges.

Stanford WR was interfered with and caught a 50 yard bomb like that.

Prothro was running away from the ball and couldn't eye it down. I do not know how long the Prothro pass was

Not even really close.

Irrelevant when judging the actual catch

ainst a better DB, in rivalry game

Irrelevant. The DBs, in that moment, were exactly equal. They made the same exact play on the ball.

After watching that Prothro's was better than I remembered. Impressive he was able to hold on while basically being dragged at full speed.

Stanford guy had an arm in his face though which has to make it more difficult to concentrate.

I'll concede they're equally impressive in different ways.

But still vs top 25 rival will have this play remembered longer than vs Southern Miss.

I saw it live and my jaw dropped for like 5 minutes. It's even more unexpected and insane when you see it live.

(Stanford just scored again btw, their RB is apparently white Buga)
