Spurrier doesn’t see it the same way.

“I have no plans on quitting,” Spurrier said.

“One of the big reasons is I brought in a defensive coach, Jon Hoke. He’s going to add to Lorenzo Ward and we believe we’re going to be a lot better on defense. We’re going to be better on defense; that’s one prediction I will make. If we can do like Arkansas did last year - they were a top defense in one year with that new guy - we’ll be in good shape.”

Spurrier points out that a couple of presidential candidates are in the same age group he is. Hilary Clinton is 67 years old while Donald Trump is 69.

The 70-year old football coach noted that Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is 68 years old, just won a national championship in his sport.

“If you have the ability to think and move around and do what’s necessary, you’re not too old,” Spurrier said. “Maybe they think I’ve been around long enough and fortunate enough to win so much, but I have a wonderful situation at South Carolina working for the best people, President Pastides and Coach Tanner.”

How long will Spurrier have to coach before UT can even up their record against him?

He's 14-10 against VOLS so hopefully he hangs around long enough that Butch can beat his Johnson City arse five more times.

Going from 11-2 to 7-6 and going from 3-9 to 7-6 are quite different beasts.

I don't mind the Spurrier quips, better to have him poke you a few times in the off season then forget you exist.

He's never liked the Vols, or Georgia, and Arkansas worked its way on his list by being a thorn in his side for most of his stay at USCe. Though he did get the last laugh with the our last two games being during our two worst seasons.

We'll see if he has a little of the old Spurrier magic left this season, but as funny as the man is retiring to be a football analyst would be right up his alley.

Congrats on destroying a team that everyone beat bad that year. You would think after a decade of being coached by one of the "greatest" of all time USC would expect such things, but nah, yall blew your load then got beat by a 5-7 Tennessee team the next week. Houston Nutt held his own against Spurrier who is obviously one of the most overrated college coaches of all time.

Spurrier talks shite now that he doesn't have to play us. He rarely talked down on us when he had to face us yearly.
